Title: Invisible helmets
Post by: Slide Panda on January 08, 2013, 09:05:43 AM
From asphaltandrubber - pondering what the further future of protective gear will bring us. Will a helmet as we know it even exist?

Catch the video at the end. Some folks working on an 'invisible' bicycle helmet. Not forcefields or anything, but a clever airbag helmet. More and more reactive protective gear coming to the markets.

Interesting

Maybe we have to wait for Nano technology before we see a safe solution for sharp impacts and penetration.

At some point people will be amazed to hear about how millions of people died during motorized transportation's childhood centuries. I believe that, within a century, human transportation will be automatic - similar to the internet.

Oh yeah - I agree that given sufficient time transport wil be automated to a large extent - but in the mean time...

I would so rock that!  I love the feeling of riding without a helmet, and if it could be made to be not stupidly dangerous, I'd be very much up for that.

BTW, I don't believe in the video product  [bang]

1. It's made by Swedes
2. Few bicyclists will wear that collar
