Title: Spare Shack UK .......................... WTF ?
Post by: Tiger Terrrific on January 11, 2013, 01:57:46 AM
Purchased a Belly Pan from Spare Shack around a month ago and they've taken my payment however I've now been chasing them for 4 weeks for confirmation of the order and details of an anticipated delivery date.

After sending them a few e-mails trying to get some feedback have received absolutely nothing (funny considering that if you ask a question which may prompt a sale, they're right back to you ?)

Have now had no option other than to raise a dispute with Pay Pal

Had expected better than this ........... ?

Is this a one-off bad experience or should I have known better ?

I do seem to remember people saying such things about them.
Not run very well, don't keep much stock and do the usual thing take money on an order then have to go and order the item themselves and wait for shipping to them and then ship to you.

Sorry to hear of the crappy service.

Whenever possible I try to order from one of our sponsors, they have a genuine interest in keeping you happy.

Jeff at Monsterparts is beyond fabulous to deal with  [thumbsup]

Sorry this doesnt help your issue I realise, but thanks for the heads-up.

Thanks guys - I'm guessing I've fallen into the 'should have known better' category.

No option now other than sit and wait it out, hopefully with a Belly-pan arriving sometime into the future .......................... ????????

You couldn't have known better as you had no previous experience with them.

If you did, or had heard of dodgy service from another Monsto, then I agree.

In any case, try calling them direct.

Hope it all works out for you.

Cheers Brian - didn't want to 9iss the guy off at Spareshack, particularly if he's a one man band, was just hoping for some clarity on where it's at.

Any assistance would be great - thanks again

Hey Tiger there's a guy on the UKMOC forum having similar problems,

I've just posted on that forum informing him of your plight,

Like I stated on the UKMOC forum I purchased from Spare Shack without problems but it was quite some years ago.

Hope you get it sorted.

Thanks for assistance guys - have finally received a reply that my Bellypan will be posted from UK this week.

I'm sure the added support of our DMF has added some weight to getting this resolved.

Will post a photo of the finished job when it's received.

Thanks !

What was the excuse that they used?

+1 Jeff from Monster parts. He has been really great.

+1 for board sponsors

I bought stuff from Spareshack when Jeff hasn't been able to supply (not often) and have found them fine to deal with. Not much communication but I didn't have a problem so it didn't matter.

California Cycleworks are pretty good too.

Sounds like a combination of supplier delays (getting stuff to Spareshack), and then the added delays of their shut-down over christmas period.

They've noted they tried to contact me a number of times but honestly I received no mail until I started to escalate things after 4 weeks of sending queries directly.

I understand these things (particularly if he's a one man band) and happy to wait the 6 +weeks it now looks like taking for delivery from time of order, however my key gripe has always been on the lack of confirmation / lack of communication & clarification of order (after taking the money)

Happy to let it rest

Well let's hope he either honours the order or refunds it and the CC company doesn't have to get involved.

Spareshack's reply to a similar issue on the UKMOC forum was that no charges have been made until parts are actually shipped. However - there is a reservation on the card account, to secure the funds, but it's lifted when it's obvious that the deal isn't completed.
