Title: Leaky face shield
Post by: d3vi@nt on February 18, 2013, 07:22:33 PM
I have an Arai Vector that's a few years old. The original shield leaked a bit right at the lower front. I recently replaced it with a darker shield, which seems to leak more at the same spot though it is the correct placement. When it's cooler, this causes my upper lip to go numb after a bit.

Are there any tricks to getting a better seal? Everything appears normal, it opens, closes, and latches without trouble.

Any feedback appreciated.

Are you using an Arai shield? I bought an ebay cheapie shield for my aging rx-7, it leaked a bit and scuffed my paint, so I threw it out found an original and solved the problem.

Yes, it was an Arai shield, purchased at the same shop where I bought the helmet. Wish I still had the tag so I could verify the part number, though. I suppose it could have been for a different/newer model, but as far as I can tell it looks identical to the one I replaced it with.

I'd take it by the shop for their opinion, but it's a bit of a drive and I just haven't had time...
