C'mon now - you had to know that he made it. The guy can weld Ti like a champ - a few bits of steel will present no challenge. ;D
Randy,
really, really high class work, makes my own feeble attempts in this direction seem generally embarassing.
I assume the quality comes not just from enthusiasm but also from a lot of professional experience (maybe the answer is in the monster frame thread, but I´m still working my way through that one...). The quality of those welds is a real joy to see [clap] [clap]
As I´m planning for a frame job of my own, but in steel tubing, I´d be interested in any hints about tube bending and tube end preparation (I think I´ve seen the expressions "fishmouthing" somewhere) you´d care to share.
I´ll be following this very closely, for sure [bow_down]

I'd be glad to help in any way. Shoot me an email if you want, stradafab@yahoo.com
I have just about all of the tubes tacked in:

is that going to be straight sport classic
or are you putting SS style rear suspension on it?
It's going to be a straight Sport Classic. I never even thought about a SS rear suspension....

LOL.....Thanks!
Always amazing when you post up the projects you're working on. [thumbsup]
So what sort of weight difference are you expecting with this frame? What tube set are you using? Curious about the torsional/lateral rigidity compared to the stock steel frame.
I think it will weigh around 13-14lbs. Stock is around 27-28.
super cool! [bow_down]
I wish I had your talent
I wish I had his frame.
:D
Ok that's just plain old showing off [thumbsup]
Looking great mate.
Here are a few pics of the finished frame. It weighs a little over 13lbs.

Very cool! Beautiful work.
Did the cleaning lady just leave? I've never seen such a clean shop. ;)

Soo.....what is the weight savings?!? Excellent work.

My wife always asks me why my shop can be so clean but I can't pick up my dirty clothes.... ;D
QuoteSoo.....what is the weight savings?!? Excellent work.
The stock frame is 28lbs....so almost 15lbs savings. It is going on Fast Franks bike for testing. His Sport Classic is gonna weigh around 313lbs. with the Ti frame!
holy crap. 313 wet?
Quoteholy crap. 313 wet?
