Title: Thanks Verizon cable
Post by: IZ on February 26, 2013, 03:06:06 PM
Guy came to hook up my cable and mysteriously, my monitor on the TV no longer works.  >:(

But it's not their fault they say.

Could they have fried it?  The guy had to call in another tech when he was here. TV worked fine for about an hour after and then it went black.

Hard tellin'...but in my experience...

if the smoke doesn't escape right away...fried is fried...

it wasn't my fault. ;)

Pay attention.  IZ said "the screen went black".

So quite obviously the smoke would've been equal parts red, green and blue  [roll].

As a cable tech for many years ( time Warner) I've never burned out a TV...  guys have had customers, myself included, try and blame us..  that's why we make sure the customer turns on the TV..

it could be coincidence but its  kinda hard to burn out a TV while installing cable..  unless the TV was on and he pulled out the power cord it could happen.. but then again, some converter boxes have a power plug..  tvs have been hookup and powers off this way, its basically like pulling the plug..

Are you getting no picture at all?  Any power on light for TV?

how many moves has this particular TV made it through?...perhaps it was just it's time?!?!?!

The only smoke seen here has been from y'all.  Yes, I'm in TX and saying y'all.  IZ_LoneStarState. [cheeky]

The TV comes on, it flashes start up screen and then it goes black.

Question was if tech fried it/did something wrong.  Like I said, he had to have another tech come to the scene because he couldn't figure out what to do.  Costumer service for that place was a joke!  They sent us a new box the next day after they wanted us to go through a couple hours of trouble shooting.

Yes, it could just be that time.  It's upsetting since this is a string of crap happening in this new place.  Thanks for the info Cokey.  We never turned the TV on when he was here. Actually, he didn't show us how to work the equipment at all.  We've had Direct TV for 12 years and they always go over that or ask to make sure we know.

WTH are you hippies talking about?!   [cheeky]

So, trying to occupy my free time attempting to fix TV. No luck, of course.

Light turns blue when I switch it on.  Screen flashes brand name and then it disappears and goes black screen.  No sound either.

Looks like its time to take this one out to bury. Actually, target practice?

The screen works if it flashes the brand name. Sounds like a setting issue. Which brand and model?

Polaroid FLM-2632

It's your power supply:

https://www.google.com/search?q=polaroid+flm+2632+no+picture&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&hl=en&client=safari (https://www.google.com/search?q=polaroid+flm+2632+no+picture&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&hl=en&client=safari)

I'd just buy a new TV. Mainly because 26" is too small.
