Title: Camera lost in Hawaii washes ashore in Taiwan

'...a Canon camera, covered in barnacles, with the memories, perfectly preserved inside.
...
The pictures are from an August 2007 diving trip in Kaanapali, where perhaps, the camera drifted away, and the owner wrote it off as gone for good. Until it washed ashore five and a half years later, more than 62-hundred miles away, on the east coast of Taiwan.'

Good ad material for Canon! The family should get a free upgrade for their trouble. Bet Canon can afford it. [thumbsup]

yup.

that said, those enclosures are pretty dependable. they usually only fail due to seal damage incurred while opening/closing them to service the camera (battery/memory card swap).

i think finding the people is kind of a long shot, but I thought DMF has a pretty good reach and maybe, by some slim chance, we can help those people get their photos back.

Who knows what might be on that camera that is completely irreplaceable.

China Airlines is giving her an open ticket to come to Taiwan to collect the camera?

WHY?

What do they get out of it?  They didn't make the camera...

Besides, they could just email her the pics.. lol

Great free publicity for the Airline.  And great PR.

I bet they find the people.  What with Facebook and photo tagging and all.

Ah, the old we-found-your-camera-you-lost-5-years-ago-and-we'll-fly-you-to-Taiwan-to-pick-it-up trick.

Oldest organ-harvesting scam in the book, my friends.

They already found the camera owner.  Who did you think Air China was offering the free trip to?

When I read the article, it was titled "Help us find owner of camera lost on Maui in 2007 that drifted to Taiwan."

China Airlines was offering the free trip to the owner, if/when they ever figured out who and how to contact that person.
