Full circle and loving it. Finally have a Monster in my garage again. My favorite color combo as well. 2007 S4R Testastretta with 840 miles. Already lightly modded with no reflectors, stickers, chopped tail, blacked out rearsets, smoked rear lens with LED's, Rizoma bar, and CRG's. In other words, all the stuff I would have done anyway. Now just screaming for an exhaust and maybe a different seat. And the brakes...holy crap after riding only monoblocks on my last three bikes I can honestly say these brakes suck.
Washed it, put the side panels back on, adjusted the turn stops, put air in the tires (were both under 5 PSI, no wonder it was so hard to roll around), and put my barrel bag from my first Monster on the rear grab rail.
Ready to roll.

Congratulations, very nice indeed
One of my favorite Monsters as well.... [Dolph]
Sweeeeet bike

That is a sweet bike. Ducati got a lot of little details right on that bike such as the frame being completely clear of wires and ties. The frame looks a lot cleaner than earlier bikes.
Very nice bike! I even like what you did with that little white basket in the front [thumbsup]
Best factory paint scheme IMO. Great bike!
Those brakes shouldn't be that bad. Maybe they need some basic work. Bleed/pads. Something like that. Heck at one time I put radial master on a 98 Monster, Galfer rotors and lines. Stock calipers and pads and the thing felt like it had superbike brakes. I don't think the rotors had that much to do with it as I put Super super Galfer rotors on a 999 and didn't notice any improvement.

They don't need to be bled and the pads have less then 900 miles on them. I think it's simply the fact my last bike was an 1199 which has some of the best brakes ever on a production bike. The brakes on the Monster stop the bike, it just doesn't have near the feel my last three bikes had.
More pictures, please. My all time favorite color combo (followed closely by original red on bronze or silve frame).
Beautiful bike. Funny though, I just got rid of my Monster a month ago and got a '13 848 Corse. I set out to find that EXACT Monster, and saw the Corse and fell in love! congrats!
i know that bike ;)

Stock pads leave a lot to be desired.
Seriously consider a pad upgrade. Those brakes can be much better.

I'll try that and maybe some iron rotors.

The iron rotors have pluses and minuses.
Better pads have no downside.

Which pads are best?
Is this one of those "I bought it from a little, old lady" stories?
Seriously..how the hell do you find an '07 with less then 900 miles?!

Good for you. ^That is directed at previous owner.

[thumbsup] Never get tired of seeing that paint scheme or the S4's.
Very nice [thumbsup]

Which pads are best?
Best is certainly subjective.
I like Dunlop Pads (DP). Probably because that is what my local shop recommended and they worked well for me with stock stainless rotors.
The HH+ rated street version give a very progressive feel and excellent stopping power.
If you like more initial bite then try the race version.
If you have your mind set on iron rotors they would cause more rapid wear as they are a metallic pad.

Doesn't anyone know the difference between "then" and "than" anymore? ???

I'm sorry. I don't mean to be the grammar nazi but it just bugs me sometimes. You see it everywhere these days. It's in a couple different posts from different folks.

I'm seriously curious, because I only see one use of the word then, and as far as I know it was correct.
More detail please.

Make up your mind. Double space after a period or single space. Triple space? Never.

that's only because you think that the popo be keepin you down and treatin' you unfairly! ;)
seriously though...welcome back to the fold...change the pads or perhaps talk to Fred at Yoyodyne about potential solutions to give you better brake feel...
No upgrades are going to come close to the 1199's monoblocks. It not that the S4R brakes are bad. But the 1199 brakes are so good that they are going to blow pretty much everything out of water when compared. Just my 2 cents.
