Planning this one as a re-schedule of the ride planned earlier in the year. Obviously, the same wet weather clause applies ... refer here (http://www.ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?topic=61821.0) for the full (prior) discussion.
According to Google Maps the planned route is only about 300kms from Berowra to Berowra ... so not that long. Partly because of this it is planned to be a relatively late start. So if you have to be back home before your husband gets out of bed, must take your cockatoo for birthday brunch or have your ritual flagellation completed by a certain time ... sorry this may not be for you. It is a social ride ... for lunch ... up to the Hunter.
This ride will take quite a sizeable chunk out of your day.The plan:
- Fill your bike @ Berowra (fuel supply is sporadic & questionable 'out there' and you don't want to be pushing)
- Meet @ Pie in the Sky around 10:00 or earlier if you wish (I know some people need to drug up pre-ride and others hate waiting at servos)
- Depart around 10:30
- Lunch at Paxton Pub (I will not be making any bookings or checking the menu or duty chef beforehand)
- Re-fuel before Freeman's Waterhole (about 160km from Berowra ... if this is a problem for anyone we may need to discuss alternatives)
- Take the tortured path back to Mount White where the ride will conclude ... kinda sorta

By my post MV, you will still have your bike and you should be midway through intensive therapy, so check with your shrink before penning your name in.
As for "I", you have chosen my Noosa nuptuals weekend so that counts me out unfortunately (was this deliberate ? [roll])
One last comment MV, if you do make the ride, then i strongly suggest that you don't let your bike out of your sight on the day, rumour has it that the Northern Beaches faternity will be taking a few spanners with an ulterior motive. [roll]

I'm in.
'Technical difficulty' stopped me turning up to the last one, so I'm looking forward to it. [evil]

Will consider it closer to the date; by the sounds of it, you lot will be far too quick for me, since I'm restricted to 80k, which is probably a good thing.

Don't let the speed thing bother you Marmaduc,It's a social ride, We all ride at our own pace, no need to keep up with the faster guys , we all regroup at various places.
Most off us want to get home with our licences intact :-X
Not only that being restricted to 80k your still going to be faster than Betty ;D
Rob
As Rob said Marmaduc, don't make your decision of not coming because you think you won't be as fast as others. We do try to run a proper marked corner ride when we go out to unfamiliar territory. And this will be unfamiliar for pretty much all of us so the will be a lot of corner marking which will mean the general pace will be down anyways.
That and the fact that it's been an age since there has been a well attended group ride.
So do come along meet a new group of people and have a ride.
Hi Marmaduc,
Been looking for an opportunity to meet everyone and being a relatively 'newby' like yourself, more than happy to just cruise along at a reasonable click.
It's penciled on my calender, and really looking forward to it.
Cheers - Brett
What are the speed limits on these roads anyway? Old Pac is only 60, so being restricted to 80 won't matter for that part at least.
OK, well it does sound like fun, so count me in at this stage. Thanks for the encouraging replies, you sound like you take your safety seriously ... been noticing some crazy cagers on the roads.
This is not a place where you'll find people pulling wheelies and stoppies.
Nor getting one knee down and trying to clean up and many people as possible.
I'll be working in Adelaide, and was going to take the bike with me, but I'm not sure now.
put me in as tentative, i'll be more qualified to make a decision once ive got the project ticking over.

We do try to run a proper marked corner ride when we go out to unfamiliar territory.
I think a review the concepts around corner marking ahead of the ride would be worthwhile.. (just remembering THAT south ride with the knobs)
a number of us are familiar with the following.
- Designated Lead Rider sets pace and points to corner for marking
- Second Rider (without exception) pulls over and marks the corner (The Marker)
- The second rider may take it upon themselves to mark a corner if they feel it's necessary/the path is unclear
- The Marker pulls over to the left of the road immediately BEFORE the corner and uses their indicators to signify which direction the pack should turn
- The Marker stays on the corner until the designated sweep passes through
- The Marker must immediately overtake the sweep
- Rinse/Repeat
In order for this to work, everyone has to play along.
- Overtaking the Lead is a no-no.
- Overtaking within the pack is fine. (safely, of course)
- If anyone needs to "bail out" during the ride, it needs to happen (ideally) at designated stops..

I wish Brian was coming with his MV, I could bring my cordless anglegrinder and staple gun and turn it into a V four. Lets face it, as an inline four its really just as mundane and ordinary as any jap bike. :)
I'm sorry to here that Joe, I hope you are not too badly hurt. How/where did that happen ? How is your bike ? All the best for a speedy recovery. cheers Steve
happened oust down the road form my house Steve, at the Clifton end of seal off bridge
bikes a write-off but is insured.
only thing that pisses me off is the fact that I had just ordered a shitload of parts...
so looks like I'll be chasing down another S4 when I'm back on deck
was a low side.
rear let go and I was cranked over a bit too. far, it just spun itself off the edge.
no dramas.
I busted right femur, left lower tibia, left clavicle, fractured scapula lhs, and fractured vertebra on outside of Lower neck. (c3&4
my dainese 1pc suit saved me but I had to have it cut open to get me out.
surgery for 7 and a bit hrs today.
first serious accident in 30 years of riding, and first time for broken legs. only ever had broken ribs/small bones before.
not much fun but I'll get there....
ouch femur is bad news along with the rest
best of luck in the recovery
Bloody hell thats quite a list, if there's anything I/we can do, just let us know.
Wow that's a serious low side!
I hope you recover well from that list of injuries.
Seriously... Best of luck with your recovery.
I'm waiting for pics so I can see how wrecked the bike is...
have a feeling it's totally cactus, with no salvageable items.
and you're right about femur
I'm pinned back together and plated heavily, Barry Style. (sheene)
Sorry to hear about your incident Joe ... never good to hear.
You seem to be in a very positive frame of mind though which is great. All the best with the recovery ... actively pursue the right advice from the experts and follow it.
Sorry to hear the bike is trashed, but the most important thing is that you're here to tell the tale.
All the best with your recovery.

Depends on a few things ... but mostly how long we are stopped for lunch ... so who knows.
According to Google Maps it is almost 5 hours ride time (me may better this) ... with the lunch stop roughly in the middle. Having said that you can peel off at any time (but please let somebody know beforehand) ... when we stop for lunch you could always just jump back on the freeway and head for home if time is critical.
We (Jukie & I) may not actually make it all the way back to Berowra before we peel off
OK, thanks for the info. I may have to cut the ride short, we'll see. Is PITS easy to find, or sign posted?

Hey Bern
PITS , code for PIE IN THE SKY. [roll]
Is roughly 7.8 klm on the right from the 7 eleven servo at Berowra,on the left heading north, the way were going ;)
Pits, Pie, Pie in the sky, reasonably easy to spot usually heaps of bikes parked out front, located on the right, on a slight left sweeper on the 4 lane section of road, before the run down the hill.
Make sure you fuel up at the 7 eleven Berowra as it is the last servo? possibly find one of us there. :)
usually a shit load of bikes there so easy to find,or at least fuel up some were from Hornsby.
Rob
Hey all, just noticed this run & kinda pissed that I've come across it all too late (Wifey's arranged some things that I can't get out of :'( )
It's been ages since I posted on here, no real reason, just too bloody busy I guess.

[laugh] It's easier to be the aloof commander (a la James May's Captain Slow) when your drill sargeant keeps the troops in line. Love your work kiddo.

And I enjoyed tailing you through the corners South on the Old road back to the Cafe (your virtual driveway )
Nice form through the corners mate at a brisk pace.
Ahh so you were the one I had to keep slowing down for ;) ;D
It is an enjoyable little section of road [evil]

Thanks everybody for a good ride. I know I wasn't too fast for anybody so I hope I wasn't toooo slow.

I thought the pace was great too. I was behind Mark heading north on the old road, right at the beginning of the day and was thinking to myself "I thought they said this guy was slow...!"
Thanks all for a great day riding & special thanks to Jukie and Rendang for making a newbie feel welcome.
Was a good. Day Maybe next one up the blue

Next ride should be Lithgow for morno, Jenolan Caves for lunch in June and be called the bass monkey blue balls????

You can't even get my nipples straight [roll] and yes I was very full after that meal
Thanks for the photos Rob ... ya DOM.
Oh and special thanks to the lovely lady (95 years young apparently) who sat on her porch with her daughter and a loaded shotgun looking after our bikes while we stuffed ourselves at the pub.
Next time we will have to find somewhere with decent servings though so Rob can eat too.

How much would you sell it for.
Hi Dave,
If you like S4Rs's have a little look at pg 93 on the trading post thread, you might see something you like. ;D
Sorry I didn't get to come out and meet all the new faces, looks like it was a great day.
cheers
Matty...
Hey Duke - Tiger/Brett here, I love that bike ....... if you're serious about selling, maybe we should have a chat.
(see how many of the kids money boxes I need to smash !)
Nothing!
Guess I should have come out on the weekend then for show and tell.
Its OK Matty, I will give you a hug if you're in need. [laugh]

Should choose your words more carefully around here :-X ;D
Organize another ride day, Jelolan caves has been mentioned. [thumbsup]
And will there be test rides and fairy floss [Dolph] ;D
Mind you your Bike and Duke 8 bike and Andy's are all fine examples off what can be done to a Monster.

Exactly, miss one or two rides and all of a sudden your out.
Point is Rob, riding it and throwing more k's on it doesn't do much for it's sale so I am trying to limit time spent on it.
A day of another 300-400 k's just makes it a harder sell.
Hi Matt,
Tiger/brett here, sorry didn't get to meet you on the weekend and didn't mean to dish your bike in anyway (know it's for sale and a cracker), had just been eyeing off Andy and Damo's bikes on the weekend, and thought they were absolutely awesome...... maybe one day.
Anyway - just sending you the love mate and catch on the next ride (cool bunch !)
Cheers - Tiger
That's alright Brett, I was just being...... Well I'd just like my bike to find a nice new owner who'll love it and want and ride it like deserves.
