Any else been watching this on A&E?
I wasn't expecting much, but I have to say I've been pretty impressed so far.
I stopped watching Bates as much to my dismay they showed a rape scene in the first episode. I have issues with TV shows making me watch that. They can imply it and that's fine but the second they show it, I stop watching. Sadly it had potential. I just won't give viewer ratings to any show that thinks I need that level of realism to be entertained.
I will check it out eventually
I gave up network and cable TV, so no I've not watched it. Part of the reason for 'tuning out' is just what Skybarney said. What passes for entertainment today does not fit my bill.
Now if you'll excuse me, I've got the rest of the Addams Family TV series to finish watching.
I'll check it out.
As I recall, I was up taking a whiz when the rape occurred, and when I got back in she was stabbing the hell out of the guy. I was shocked, and I think that's what they were going for. After all, it is a prequel of sorts to the original 'Psycho' story.
The following episodes have been fairly subdued and a little mysterious by comparison, I think they used the first episode (and its brutality) to set the tone for Norman's mom and what she's capable of, not to mention it (and her) rubbing off on Norman.
