Title: Boston Marathon
Post by: Stella on April 15, 2013, 03:30:39 PM
This is the only time one can hope that the explosions were from some defective gas line or some other, non-terrorist, sort.

And if any of you have any friends or family there, I hope they're ok.    :(

dolci's brother ( my soon to be brother in law ) finished the race almost an hour before this....he sent a message to his wife that he was moving away from the finish line when this happened...so as far as we know, he is okay.

Life will be pretty interesting when we start getting suicide bombers here walking into crowds. Scary thought.

Just watched a clip of the runners go by as the bomb went off.  One officer standing right there didn't even flinch.

My hopes too were that is was an accident. Some how I knew that it was not. My head was pulled out about 6 years ago.

What makes me worried is that my little town is about to have 50 thousand or so people show up for a running event next month.

Consider this your one and only warning.

Tragedies like this bring all sorts of emotions and scenarios to one's mind. It's human nature. We just don't go there on this forum.

My heart goes out to the loved ones of those killed and injured as well as the people that had to witness this madness.

there have always been, and will always be, predators and prey.

to think/wish/hope that we as a species will fix that, is wasted time. time better spent honoring the good among us.

my heart goes out to all who suffer at the hands of a predator.

I don't think the spontaneous cheering by people in the streets was a bad thing.  One big sigh of relief.  It's not like it was a scheduled ticker tape parade with waving mayors.  Just a large group of people who had an evil muther f-er in their midst.  Ding dong the witch is dead kind of moment.

The cheering does seem quite out of place, but as previously stated, is most likely a spontaneous occurance of pride about the Boston PD. The only good that can come from this miserable waste of air living is that they may be able to get info from him  to prevent future bombings.

When I first heard they were Russian, I was thinking maybe some kind of crazy Russian mob hit. It now appears that their motives were simply anti westerner. Damn scum. If they don't like it here, maybe they should have enjoyed their life in Chechnya for longer.

Shoot at cops, get caught on video and you deserve to die.  Were it me I would not have had such a huge scene around the boat when a HOMEOWNER (not 9000 LEO's) found him.  I would have had a dozen guys with guns and a gas can.  As I was pouring the gasoline around and on the boat I would calmly say "Better give up" He would either toss out his gun and give up or save the taxpayers a lot of cash.....

I suppose the take him alive bit is going to upset the conspiracy crowd.  Sometimes it is nothing more than a pissed off very angry human that causes problems.   :'(

Oh I'm not saying people always think their kids are angels... I grew up in the ghetto... I know about bad kids/people..  but if the FBI did have them under servalance, they need to fire that team to let them bomb a marathon.

It would have been great if Asshole #2 had happened to try to commandeer some residence and was taken out by the homeowner.....with an AR15 with a high-capacity magazine.

But we would have never heard that story.

In my old age I have come to believe that murderous intent and rage pre-exist in some folks,,,,the capacity is already there primed and set to blow

and the only thing left is for a given individual to manufacture a reason to exercise that murderous intent and rage.

Savagery and animal behavior are already in place and escalating and the person consciously attaches that raw ugliness to some intellectual notion or excuse or "justification"

its as simple banal and repugnant a premise as "misery loves company"

I don't think a lot of genocide types have ever come out and said...I killed 1-11ty billion people because I thought it would make me feel better when in fact that is probably closer to the truth

I think you're on to something, but like anything, it can be conditioned out of someone, or a population.

Feed someone a steady diet of "you've been cheated", "it's not fair" and "those people are the cause of your problems" and all of a sudden, you have a very self-confirmed conclusion.  He could be rich or poor or educated or a moron -- if the individual believes their problems exist because of someone/thing else, they'll attack it.

Utter lack of self-awareness and responsibility -- it can be taught, and passed thru generations.
