I never had any real interest in Ducati's because a. I couldn't afford one b. Always had a Japanese street bike and c. Love Honda's, then my body grew older and it was not happy with the RC any longer. I love this Monster, I should have bit the bullet and bought it sooner!
Welcome.
I'm in Arlington too - there's quite a number of folks in the DC Metro + on here. Our little local section is:

- Stop by say hi
A two-smoker for the track - fun. A buddy of mine has a street legal (Yes really) RS250 in Arlington that he takes out from time to time - though feels bad for gassing folks at lights.
Speaking of our local folks - though individuals go more often, we're trying to gather up folks for the TPM weekend at Shenny, June 8/9. Perhaps I've seen you out there, or even met. I run a KTM SuperMoto, so stick out a bit at the track (usually). Are you on .net btw?
Cool, thanks for the heads up; unfortunately I'm down to one bike at the moment having sold all my track toys. Maybe after break-in I can take the Monster out for a few laps to play with the lap timer.
I bet the KTM Supermoto is a blast on track, I certainly would have remembered meeting you on that bike!
When you say .net are you referring to sportbikes.net? I'm not on it unfortunately.
Lately I've been grabbing [coffee] at the Starbucks off Spout Run before heading out to ride on the weekends, maybe I'll see you around!

My buddy/neighbor tracked his 1100S - well until he got over sauce one weekend and low and high sided it... ooopse Until then it was running Shenandoah quite well.
The KTM is fun - though some more HP would be nice at times. But, a 300 pound bike is great for late brakes and the tight stuff. So a lot of the people that get me on the straight get to watch me cruise by in the brake zone.
.net = dcsportbikes.net I figured with your track tendencies you might be on there as well. There's usually chatter and organization around track days. people sharing rides or just bein' social
The 'bucks by the Italian store? I'm nto up that way much - I live right on the Arl/Alex border. But if you catch a KTM 690 buzzing around 99% sure it'll be me.
Welcome Darin!
New '13 EVO owner here in San Fran.
I hear you about Japanese bikes. My VFR was beautifully built, never so much as a hiccup, and did everything it was designed to flawlessly. When I got my 2000 Monster 750, I still had my VFR for weekend rides. It was really strange getting on after a week of riding around the city to work etc on the Monster. Just something about the V twin motor that worked it's way into my soul i guess. Plus I really fell in love with the super light weight and resulting agility of the 750.
cheers,
Michael
