I want to put a cabinet in my garage to keep all my riding gear in. A place where I can stow my gear when I get off the bike instead of leaving a trail of items all through out the house. Ideally it would have a closet pole to hang jackets/pants/suit on, and a shelf on top for helmets. The part that complicates it is I want to to be fairly well sealed to keep dust and crap out and off my gear if I am working in the garage, so hooks on the wall are out. I may end up building something, but before I headed off into the dark I wanted to see what solutions other people had come up with.
You want a wardrobe. Closemaid or some cheap POS like that. You can probably get one on craigslist for almost nothing.
Dust out means moisture in :-\
.. maybe not the ideal way to air out gear.
Could install a computer fan or two with dust screens on the intake. A couple 120mm fans move a good bit of air, don't make much noise.
I agree you don't want to seal in swampy gear.
Not so much worried about airing stuff out, I would more than likely leave the doors open 90% of the time, I just want something I can close up when Im doing dust producing activities in the garage thats all. And yes, I thought about putting a fan/filter on it.
Why would you want to store your gear in your garage? I don't understand. I rather keep my gear inside the house properly protected from elements, insects etc than in garage.
closet keeps static air. doesnt do much good. i rather bring it home and leave it on the counter by the window.
if u must have it i the garage, just cover it when ur working.

...to clarify, my garage is an integral part of the structure of the house...not a seperate shed with a tall door...
its insualted, partially heated, and more comfortable in the summer months than any other room in my house. (no central air...so the concrete walls and floor down there keep it cooler and less humid than the rest of the house.)
Basically when I come home from a ride, I pull strait into the garage and walk into the house...and I would just assume take my gear off and hang it up when I get off the bike rather than leave a trail of gloves/helmet/jacket/boots/gloves/etc all the way through into the kitchen...and then get yelled at later for having all of the chairs occupied with gear. (Which if youve never experienced a summer in New Hampshire...the kitchen is just as hot and humid as it is outside...ALSO not the best place to air out gear...)
So to sum up...
A building with a tall door subject to insects, heat/cold, precipitation = shed
A room in the house with a tall door and concrete floor vs hardwood/carpet = garage
If you fabricate something, I'd make one half a closet bar and the other cubbies, for helmets, boots, gloves, rain stuff, etc.
My media room by my door in the house has an under-stairs closet, which I've commandeered for riding gear. Put in Ikea cubbies for our gloves and whatnot. I keep the lawn mowing shoes in there too.
