Just thought it would be fun and informative to have a thread to share where to get a great deal on...whatever.
To start, being completely fed up with TWC and their never ending rate hikes, I got a free Tivo unit to replace my cable box from here: http://www3.tivo.com/promo/premiere_0.html?WT.mc_id_search&gclid=CJrsx477mLcCFSiCQgodbkwA4A (http://www3.tivo.com/promo/premiere_0.html?WT.mc_id_search&gclid=CJrsx477mLcCFSiCQgodbkwA4A)
Cuts my monthly cable bill by over $15, even with the tivo monthly.
$120 for a refurbished unit isn't bad.
I've been pretty happy with TiVo. I went that route a year ago because I was sick of renting Verizon boxes.
Mine was $82 with tax and a 2 year extended warranty.

The link you provided was 19.99 a month for two years. Wrong link?
Edit: Oh I see. After two years you save $10. $10 is $10. [thumbsup]

I see your point. The extra $5 a month does work out to that. At any rate, it is still much cheaper than the crappy TWC box which screws up all the time.

Absolutely. I had three fios boxes. I went to one Tivo with a cable card, and three rokus, and then FIOS gave me a free box. You need the rokus for UFC (plus HD PPV is only $45 on the roku) and my bill is about $100 less a month.
Any TWC ?, pm me.. let you know which boxs to get.. I'm a 10 yr tech.. cheapest route is 7 tuner cable card reader on a computer ... gets rid of the monthly TiVo

Got one question. Is there any way to transfer all of my recordings on my TWC Motorola HD-DVR to my new TiVo unit?
As for a HTPC, yea, I built one about 10 years ago, the software was not up to the task back then. I do plan on building another. Still, I am not aware of any GUI that works as smoothly as a TiVo. That is the main attraction of the TiVo over other DVR options.
Direct transfer, not that I know of.. haven't tried everything but these boxes have some good security script.. gotta hack the box..
