I get this stuff ridiculously cheap from my supplier in China but I have to buy in bulk, if I get a few takers we can replace all the hardware on our engines and bikes with nice stainless for literally a few dollars each. I'm already up to my @ss in M6 hardware but now I need to order M8. Lemme know.
There's an oxmoron hiding in there somewhere.

"Nice" and "China"? ;D
Their stuff is very, very nice from what I've seen. Exact same stuff anyone selling kits online gets.
How much is "few dollars?"
I may be interested.

Ditto
Depending on price and also since I'm mechanically an idiot which bolts or how many do they replace and are they universal across years? Is there any worry about electrolysis (I think that's the word, where two dissimilar metals corrode faster)?

It's hard to say exactly, they range all the way up to M10X100 millimeter. If someone can give me an example list of size, pitch, length and quantity of each I'll tell you exactly. Doubt you'd have more than $20 in it for multiple dozens of bolts. The stuff is cheap if you place a minimum order and I'm willing to carry the majority of the cost. I just don't wanna piss off my wife even more by having a bolt warehouse in the dining room lol
Matter of fact if someone would be cool enough to give me a couple lists of what it would take to build "Monster Kits" that included all of the engine covers, clutch cover, hugger, fender, triple clamp and handlebar I'd gladly give you a set for free and list the group buy price by tonight.
I'd be interested in a set for brake rotors. I believe they're M8x25mm. I think there's 6 per front rotor and 5 on the back, that right? So 17. But they need to be short heads.
I don't use stainless for rotors, I prefer 12.9 alloy with Dacromet coating. 12.9 is far far >>> than common A2 or even A4 stainless.
Dacromet is like teflon coating but heat/acid/everything-proof.

Mdmetric had them for a while. They are 10.9 not 12.9 but plenty better than stainless.

I think I have a kit in my parts bin.
It comes with a list of sizes and quantities.
Intended for use in the first gen monsters.
Will look for it this weekend and report back.

[thumbsup] nice. Whatever's missing, I'll mic myself from my own bike and include a list with each kit.
I'm seeing all kinds of bits that can be swapped out with stainless. The M6's that mount the controls look crusty.. all the hardware holding the calipers, fender, hugger, etc. A complete kit would be a very nice makeover for these bikes.
Stainless cycle sells them. No idea of the quality vs cost.
mcmaster carr has them. Its like 10 bucks or so for a large number of them (count varies depending on screw size) Counts range from 10-25 per package...

Always my goto. [thumbsup]
Found the list.
Will post up this evening.
right on, thanks Pedro.
For M6 screws: If you only wanted to do: (just finished this-big improvement)
- Both engine covers
- Front fender and rear hugger
- Clutch cover
- Clutch and brake master mounts
- Gas cap
- Slave cylinder mount
It would require: (give or take 1 or 2)
- 20 M6X20 screws
- 2 M6X70 screws
- 4 M6X16 screws
roughly 25 screws, which would cost you around $5. At this price, I don't even care about the group buy, I'll just give you guise the screws for shipping costs plus a [drink]. To add in the triple clamps, handlebar clamps, dash and calipers
would be roughly an additional 8 M6X20 screws and roughly 10 assorted M8 screws. I have IMA triples and a custom mounted dash so I couldn't tell you exactly what you'd need. But that's a lot of hardware for somewhere around $10. TBH I don't even need the group buy anymore, I'm buying the M8's now but I'll post here when they come in and if anyone wants a full or partial set for their classic Monster you can have them @ cost.
Sorry, didn't get around to posting up until now.
Sending you (Buck) a PM with a pic of the list.
I don't feel comfortable posting the list here.

Why so secretive? I'm just wanting to find out how much this little kit of stainless goodness is going to be and when we can order it.
It contained a company letterhead, obviously someone had gone to the trouble of compiling it as their own branded bolt kit. Just seems dickish to put it out here so we can make our own for a fraction of the cost.
TBH it wasn't what I expected anyway. Too much stuff like headlight ring and tail Iight lens screws and not enough stuff like engine covers and master cylinders.
ah, okay. when are you going to get all this together? It's doing nothing but raining here, good time to screw around

Nice one, lol. My guy is waiting on a container to fill, could be a few days or another few weeks. I'm figuring engine covers, master cylinders, dash, calipers, and risers will all be had in the $10 range. After I hook you guys up I might start a little eBay hustle on the side.

What about valve stems caps? just kidding. I'm bored shitless at work.
