So, here's the story,.
One of my female mill operators complained to me today that she was having problems with a certain lift driver.
Apparently he's been asking her out and to flash him her boobs while at work.
She has been rejecting him for several weeks now, and he decided to start ignoring her needs for work delivery and removal from her work station. This caused her to fall behind on her daily production.
Trying to be discreet and keep everyone involved employed, i brought it to his super's attention. He instantly pulled the guy into his office for a "talk".
At quitting time about 2 hrs later, i clocked out and went out to my bike and got really pissed really fast.
Someone has broken off my "new" front turn signals and busted out my guage cluster lens.
I went back inside and reported it, but all i got was "there's nothing we can do about it".
I threatened to go through the parking lot with a knife flattenng tires since "there is nothing they can do about it anyway" and stormed out mad as hell.
Essentially, i made sure they knew i was pissed and not going to let this be just another ignored issue.
Of course no one saw anything and i can't prove the lift driver in question did it, but he's the only person i can think of that would have had motive.
Looks like i'll be surfing e bay for more parts...And waiting for my chance to royally whip someone's ass..... GRRRR!! >:( >:(
ALWAYS, no good deed goes unpunished. [bang]
I can't imagine what I would do the next time I see that guy
i totally agree with what you did. Totally. That said, you have already proven you are a bigger man than that clown...move on, it sucks but you won't get anything good by retaliation. Next time, let her report it as it really is her issue.
Sucks!
I have some extra turn signals and no bikes in the stable. I got a favor from Monster Parts awhile back. I need to pay that forward. They're yours if you can use them. Just give me your address.
Sorry to hear this. Do keep a cool head at work.

Wait a long time before you ever consider acting out.
One: you may take that time to get over it and move on knowing that karma will eventually kick his obnoxious ass. Two: if he keeps up his harassment of your female coworker she should consider reporting it to her supervisor herself and filing sexual harassment charges against him and the company. Three: he will think it's all blown over, you can't possibly prove he did anything to your bike, he'll think he won the day and feel like a real macho tough guy... all about the time he realizes "someone" poured two pounds of sugar in his gas tank and pushed dozens of raw shrimp past his driver's side window into the inside of his car door. Hopefully it will still be nice and hot outside if this were to somehow take place. Peeeyuuuu! [cheeky] ;) [evil]

Good luck with this one, H-M. Sounds like you've got your hands full. :-\
[leo] report and take it to HR.
Stay out of the personal level as that will just result in you getting shafted. Sounds like she is a bit . . . off; send nudie pics to some dude then complains that he's making advances towards her. [roll] Stay away!

Take it up the chain, including HR... then hide the bike in a storage unit somewhere and drive a rental car (with full insurance coverage) for the next month or so. Or hide the bike and drive your crappiest car. Maybe a $500 beater off craigslist. Or take the bus for 1-2 months, if public transit is an option in your area.
Sorry, wish I had a better (less expensive) answer. I would seriously follow the recommendations to take this up the food chain, including HR. Unfortunately, some people are scum, and you *will* have to take precautions against retribution.
If you can afford some kind of home video surveillance system to keep an eye on your bike/car/etc, I'd highly recommend that. If you can show the LEOs video of whodunnit, with all the corporate documentation of the crap that went down at work, you'd be able to nail them in court.
There's no proof.
make the beast with two backs them both.
Know nothing. Leave your bike at home.
Tell the Manipulative pregnant dog to shut the make the beast with two backs up whining to you, and at the same time apply pressure entirely related to her poor production output.
Tell the Sleazebag Vandal that he supplies MB's work station as required AND stays the make the beast with two backs away from your bike or SV's supervisor gets to see the pictures of SV with SV's own cock in his hand that SV has been messaging you ;).
Are either of 'em married or such?
Since the situation um, developed, you gotta manage this up to HR and the police.
Technically she has harrassed him first, or at least entrapped him, then he has reciprocated. Maybe she has set you up to be her knight in shining armour. She may want you, yikes. A sick game.

I think he needs to hand on tne issue to those paid to handle it.
It's gonna come out sooner or later and HM needs to be blameless and follow due process. Of course, does he have confidence in HR?
HM, could say to HR, "I've become aware of a very tricky issue I would like you to deal with, it's complex and requires your expertise". He's gotta handball this on asap as far away as possible.
Maybe a quiet /confidential chat to the Union rep for advice on the side.

Coz if Sleazebag Vandal
is married.... I suggest this:
Do a little quiet homework to find out his home phone number.
Then - timing is critical - when Sleazebag Vandal is at work and Manipulative pregnant dog is on a coffee break... this is the moment when Mrs Hooligan Machinist deploys Operation Get Even.
In the most innocent little girly voice she can muster.... Mrs Hooligan Machinist now calls Sleazebag Vandal's wife and says this:
"Oh Hi there Mrs [Sleazebag Vandal].... um... you don't know me... my name is [full name of Manipulative pregnant dog], I'm calling to talk to you about your husband [first name of Sleazebag Vandal]."
"It's a little delicate.... it's embarrassing actually.... I honestly didn't know he was married when this all began..... and as soon as I found out I ended it..... I'm ashamed.... BUT.... [first name of Sleazebag Vandal] won't take no for an answer!! He is saying I gotta get in the back of his [name the exact model of car] and suck his dick again.... or he will post the naked pictures he has of me.. all over the internet... :-["
"he's married...I don't want to.... is there anyway you can delete those pictures off his phone?.... I'm really not like that... I'm so sorry... I really didn't know he was married.........."Click.

Just make sure she calls from a payphone or a "burn phone" (prepaid cell bought with cash) so the phone call can't be traced back to Mrs. Hooligan Machinist. ;)
After the call, pull the battery and dispose of the burn phone somewhere AWAY from your home or frequent haunts.
No traceability. [evil]

This all sounds like a lot of fun, but hasn't it gone far enough? You are the victim here.
Somebody earlier said to get HR and company attorneys involved. Good advice. The lift driver should have been written up for harassment of the female worker. The lift driver should also be questioned about the vandalism by the company's attorney. If the attorney has a strong feeling the lift driver was the vandal, then offer him a choice of resignation with no mention of this on his work record. If he refuses the offer, tell him the other choice is loss of job and prosecution for vandalism and sexual harassment. He might be inclined to take the first offer.

A strong feeling? Really? Yeah, that's not gonna fly. If they can't prove it, it matters not what anyone suspects. Threatening the likely vandal with what you suggest just gives him grounds to actually win when he files his wrongful termination or harassment lawsuit.
The OP is screwed with regards to his bike. Time to move on.

Yes, I know it is a bit risky, but if he is guilty he will likely agree to resign. I pulled this gig on a truck driver working under me about sixteen years ago. He was selling empty pallets and we knew it, but we didn't actually catch him in the act. We pulled him in, had his final check already made out, we told him what he was doing was theft, and we gave him a choice of resignation or prosecution. He chose to resign and signed his resignation papers. We told him that signing the resignation was not an admission of guilt and that noting would show up on his employment record.
What can I say, it worked?
I fulfilled my obligation to the company and took it to my boss, the plant manager.
H.R. did get involved, his doing not mine.
I don't have any further details of what was said in any of the meetings since i wasn't included.
I do know that the lift driver was terminated and my mill operator got 3 days off without pay, any further infractions within 180 days is automatic termination.
As far as my bike is concerned, it's mine to fix and hope nothing else happens.
I'm not happy about it, but there's nothing more i can do without proof.
you did the right thing.
You did all you could do. [thumbsup]
Good! They terminated the lift driver. For sexual harassment? The babe sending naked pics around only gets 3 days off?
All things being equal, it sounds like she got off easy. (so to speak) I guess we are less offended by pics. of naked women than we are by persistent lift drivers. Of course, the lift driver was guilty of harassment and poor job performance.
Sounds like it worked out about as well as you could have hoped for. [thumbsup]
no, less likely to get a lawsuit from a male compared to a female... just a fact..
The CYA motto: Don't be the senior guy with a secret.
From what I can gather from your posts, once you found out about her sending the pics, it went way above your pay grade.
Being asked to handle things at the lowest possible level ("He won't stop hitting on me, he won't deliver the materials I need, he's being sexist dickbag, but I don't want to go to HR or make a big deal out of this.") is great if that's the entirety of the situation and it can be solved with a conversation.
It's never that simple.
MH, you did the right thing by letting the "professionals" handle the issue. The lift driver got terminated because he did sexually harassed his co-worker AT WORK. He got what he deserved. If he would have done it in his private life, it'd be viewed differently. The female co-worker did send pics but, from what I can see, she did it on her own time. If she did it via company PC or email account, then it'd be ground for termination.
Rule of thumb, keep your work life work focused. After you clock out, you can do whatever you want.

... If you are a public figure or public servant, you should know better to be on your best behavior at all times. Watchful eyes are, well, watching. Last year, there were 2 Bellevue (WA) cops acting a fool at a Seahawks game. Apparently, they were already a drunken mess outside of the stadium and verbally assaulted a Seattle cop. Once in the stadium, they were dropping f-bombs with kids around them. When confronted, they went off on a parent to a couple kids sitting near by. They even flashed their badges... Needless to say, they were made example of in local media and both got a demotion.
