rumor mill says he isn't going to race...but something in my gut tells me he is going to have a wildcard ride on a 2014 production RC213V at PI as a way of demonstrating its capabilities.

"HRC have flatly denied that the test is a prelude to a MotoGP return for the Australian, according to MCN."

It'd be a treat to see him and MM wheel-to-wheel at PI... well, anywhere, really.
It would indeed. Don't really see the point of it but it still would be fun to watch. Like Bayliss, Stoner is probably getting bored and is tired of changing diapers. [laugh]
According to the article, Stoner is tweaking a D16esque street bike like special edition for Honda
Honda needs a RC bike back in the line up. My RC51 Hayden is almost 10 years. They need a LE Zoot Capri RC MotoGP knock off with lights and a horn. [thumbsup] [Dolph] Just don't put the price in the stratosphere. ;)
Stoner Championship Replica on its way I think

From the article:
And Honda insiders say he will also evaluate the performance potential of a new production 1000cc racer that the Japanese factory will make available next year.
That's the limited production racer that Honda is selling for 2014.
Where did you get the 'street bike' thing?
oh. CRT?
I'd like to see Stoner come back for P.I. and beat everyone by 5-10 seconds. He'd still probably wax everyone at that track even with no seat time.

There's been a couple of brief articles in Motorcyclist & possibly Cycle World that allude to a special edition street bike race replica coming --- high price estimate though.

Yup. Can't remember the sources, but I do remember reading it (in print) a couple of times. Immediately thought that would be my next bike.
He would not be testing a street bike and CRT is not quite accurate. It's a dumbed down version of the current bike, probably without the tranny or factory ECU.
YES, what they are referring to is the customer purchase racing RC213V without Pnuematic valves and Seamless Shift gearbox and a different ECU package. Supposedly they will also come with Nissin brakes and Showa suspension....
Every time I see this thread title pop up, I think it's a test I'll likely fail.
At last check Casey rides the same bike as me a Honda CB1000R.
Here is a quick interview from the CB forum with Casey on his personal ride....

They actually made mention of a possible road going, V4 equipped GP replica that would sell at an unspecified premium. I'd want mine with a Sic paint job.
I can understand some of the other commemorative bikes, like the MH900 or the Paul Smart, but c'mon, Casey is the epitome of the non-team-player....this is too much like merchandising Spaceballs memorabilia...

Haha, funny Steve.
To see Stoner and Marquez racing against each other would be epic, though Casey is out of practice. Marquez would be quite a challenge to beat.
I hear the mechanics where worried about a high pitched whining noise coming from the bike as it went round the track, then they remembered it was Stoner riding ;) ;)

He has complained about his media and sponsor commitments and wants to have an entire season off before deciding whether or not he will resume his two-wheel career or have another crack in a V8.
Imagine that. ;D
At least on 2 wheels he was pretty much unstoppable if he wasn't injured. I believe he probably thought that he would have to deal less with the media or that they were going to treat him better at home. Now he understands that the media will be douches anywhere, so why not go back to getting a huge paycheck?
Think Repsol would allow HRC to can Pedro if Stoner came back?

I think the team up of Stoner and Marquez will be too close to having the ultimate dream team for any sponsor to not support.
The question is that with at least 2 yrs of Stoner not on the bike vs 2 yrs of seasoning for Marquez... will Stoner be able to keep up with him?
Maybe Audi might court him? Talk about a big cheque and humble pie.
Most likely phone calls from Livio/Honda though.
I don't see any way that Stoner would ever sign back with Ducati.
You're right, in his mind they burned him pretty bad.
They only now realise what they had, or at least Audi realizes.
I think Honda learned a lesson from Rossi divorcing them, but Ducati didnt take note. Ducati ended up with more corporate stubborness than Honda and its cost them dearly with public humiliation.
I hope Audi changes that culture.
