Title: New Joe Rocket "hybrid" leather + textile jacket
Post by: ducatiz on August 13, 2013, 09:18:24 AM
Reactor 3.0

Textile shell with leather at contact points and armor underneath.

Seems like a good idea.  Anyone?  Mrs. Ducatiz has a textile jacket from Joe Rocket that is ok, but this seems like a far better idea.

Rev'it has or had a jacket with a similar concept. meshy stuff in the low likely hood of contact areas and leather in the high ones. For moderate riding it makes sense to me. Brings in the benefits of both.

I am looking for a new jacket.

My leather AGV jacket smells like a gym.  I had it cleaned, but it is so friggin hot.

The textile jacket I have makes me nervous.

Ducati's (dainese) hypermotard jacket was a similar concept, and a very nice jacket.

If its hot where you live, there's a useful review on Competition Accessories from a rider in Houston who says that the jacket keeps him as cool as a mesh jacket.

That looks nice. A windproof / water resistant liner for cooler am or evening temps would be nice, for those of us who leave
the home early and sometimes arrive home late.

I found the ultimate in weather proofing, it has perfect temperature control and works in almost any weather condition.  Neither heat nor cold has bother me a bit.  You can find one at every single car dealership in the Country.   ;D

Seriously though I love the idea of a hybrid jacket (with thin under liner) as I live in NorCal and regularly ride from 150ft to 8,800ft and back down again in a day.  Leather protects well and is really hot when hot out.  Textile is mediocre for protection and cold when it is cold out.  I may have to further investigate  [beer]
