[bang].
Really tempers the enthusiasm for my new 17" Lenovo. Microsoft just needs to die.
Yup....
unless you have a touch screen (maybe not even then) W8 is the suck....
of course, with some effort you can force it to behave like W7, but really ?????
I'm still on xp...
[bang] hate 8
Win7 Pro on laptop . . . and XP Pro on the desktop . . .
Win7 is decent. My wife has a Win8 and has decided never to buy another PC for personal use. We are now fully Mac snobs.

Just wanted to reiterate.
I [puke] on Windows 8.
I saw a graphic awhile back being shared on FB, it was soooo true. A list of all Windows OS's going back 20 years with the captions; good/sucks/good/sucks/good/sucks. That's pretty much EXACTLY how it's been.
On the bright side...it's not as bad as ME. That OS was the king of suckville.
Win8 comes as a close second to ME.
Windows 3.1x (1992) - Good
Windows 95 (1995) - Sucked
Windows 98 (1998) - Good
Windows ME (2000) - Sucked (hard)
Windows XP (2001) - Good
Windows Vista (2006) - Sucked
Windows 7 (2009) - Good
Windows 8 (2012?) - ???
Yep.
Linux?
Admittedly, it can be a challenge to run a Linux OS on some machines. I'm having a helluva time getting dual-boot to work on my Sony Vaio. Has that stupid newish Insyde H20 EFI BIOS that defaults to Win-blows... seriously, it will seek out the Windows boot sequence even if you move it and make Linux the primary. Major suckage. [bang] I had other things come up, and don't have the time right now to finish teaching myself enough command-line stuff to do what I need to.
If the wankers at Sony had just given me an actual Windows disk instead of one of those stupid "Recovery CDs", I'd probably already be off to the races. >:(
Eff Microsuck and their business practices.
Windows 8 sucks, and I've tried to like it.
They're coming out with a free update next month that allows you to remove the touch screen feature, basically making it like W7. Hopefully that is good.

That's the way I'm headed too.
I just tried to use my wife's work computer with windows 8 for the last two days.....sucked. glad we switched to mac two years ago.
