Title: new monster for daily driving
Post by: lpgoldtop on September 02, 2013, 07:30:16 AM
My name is Billy Jack Mast.  I'm in Maryland, just north of Baltimore. Started riding when I was 10 on a kit build mini-bike. I spent 2 years riding off-road on a lawnmower engine with no suspension, direct drive, and a single rear brake consisting of a paddle that pressed against the rear wheel. Back then, I loved it. got street legal about 7 years ago on a Savage 650. Went through a couple of HD FXRs(81 shovelhead was the best one)and a Springer softail. Love Harley's pre-twincam engines, but there bikes all handle like crap compared to anything else. Still have an FLH shovelhead for touring. Got a BMW 1200GS a few years back. Used it as a daily driver and with heated and rain gear rode all year long(almost 10k miles in 8 months) Loved that, just a bit much for everyday. It got totaled when I was on my way to my wedding(guy made a left in front of me, no room to stop). After shopping around for something fun I could use everyday I decided on a monster, Went with the m1100 for the better controls and the adjustable front suspension. Looking forward to making some stuff to convert it for my needs(I'm a cnc programmer)

you'll fit in nicely and with the cnc skills, you may get tons of questions

also check out the CAM (capital area monsters) in the local club boards section

Without a doubt, those were the best times I have EVER had!
Some people may find that pathetic but I bet a few out there feel the same way.  [laugh]
         Welcome.

the important thing was that I was keeping up with little 80 and 150 dirtbikes with real suspensions. And we'd built a jump course!
