Title: Trade my M695 for Triumph Speed Triple 1050?
Post by: ikillterrorists on September 16, 2013, 05:31:45 PM
This guy would like to trade for my bike, which has 6400 miles and Arrow high mounts that I LOVE. But I also really want a bigger bike. I'm going to have to throw in a few hundred $ though of course. Should I do it? I'm really going to miss the sound of my exhaust...

The "whine" of the Triumph triple will sound different that's for sure...

I don't mind the Triumph whine.

But that said, the OP should be banned from the DMF for a month of Sundays for even considering trading away his Monster.

Heretic.

Put some akras on that beast if you do  [evil]

I've debated getting one, still am (demo for $8300), but I'm waiting to see what Ducati has for '014. Also debating a track bike instead...

I probably won't bite. Love my monster too much. <3

That Triumph triple spins-up like a fine Swiss watch.

But it doesn't have the heartbeat of a Ducati.

Take her out on those twisties that she loves so much, then bed her down and sleep on it.  [Dolph]

Had a Speed Triple and sold it to preserve my drivers license. It's a great bike, but a bit like inline-4s, it's always asking you to go really fast to fully enjoy. (Even if it has torque right from the get go, if you're like most you wont be able to stop there, you'll accelerate until the wind tells you you're going twice over the speed limit hehe).

Great bike, maybe I could have one when I'm 70 and have calmed down.

In deciding, don't forget to add $1k to the price to have it painted not-lime-green.

My girlfriend's dad has a Speed Triple and I've taken it around a few times. I don't have any other experience on big bikes, but I felt bad riding it around town, couldn't open it up. But plenty of torque, looks cute, and I happen to love the whine as it's super distinctive compared to most bikes you see and hear.

On the other hand, that front end lifts up pretty easily, almost too easy...  [leo]

But oh shit, that werkes exhaust sounds amazing. i've heard one in person. [clap]

What's the maintenance on one of those bad boys like?

Lime green speed trip was always one of my favorite naked bikes, but it'd be a real tough decision to ask me to give up my duc for it... : ???

If ever a bike needed a new front headlight it is the triple........  That thing has the least attractive nose just about ever.  Aside of that nice bike.  Just not a Monster.

Totally agree. Nice bike, except the headlights need a little work. Reminds me of this:

Ok good thing about the Werkes. But I'm sure it's not gonna be deep throaty like my Arrow...

Being 1050 triumph rider, I love the bike.  Torque and great for twisty road.  It's not a top end bike.  It's a great hooligan bike.  I have logged 30k miles and have had less issues on it than my 620. Monster.  Mind you, I love my small monster still but the ride is night and day difference.

N first thing I did to triple is full 3 to 1 arrow exhaust.  Great sound.  Not too loud or annoying.
