Pretty cool technology here but might be a little too distracting.

not sure that's the link you wanted

The Skully P1 combines smartphone-pairing and voice controls with a HUD showing both turn-by-turn directions and a full 180-degree view of what’s behind the rider. According to Skully, that not only provides a complete view of the rear, but entirely eliminates blind spots.
Link fixed. Was trying to post from my phone.
I signed up!
LiveMap looks good too.

Liking the Skully. Especially the rear view camera.
No more police sneaking on me from behind ;D
Very cool. Hate to wreck in that expensive helmet. What happens after 5 years when it comes time to replace?

If I wreck, the helmet is the least of my worries :D

It's certainly where things are heading, pardon the pun!

Not a fan of the helmet with the maps just like I refuse to get the navigation system option in a car.
I have an android, anything that syncs up with that is going to be preferred.

We call that a derby...
And a search pre post didn't come up with anything.

I'm more interested in the rear view camera, not the music or nav functions.
I signed up too... This looks like an awesome bit of tech.
The extent to which mankind is capable of douchebaggery never ceases to amaze me. Well done, sir. [clap]

I wish I understood the context of the above. Is the HUD douchebaggery? Just curious that's all.

Has anyone heard back from Skully? I applied for the beta testing and hadn't heard anything so I emailed them today...
Another one, different approach:

This option is better than having to buy a new helmet.

There are Pros and Cons IMO.
An integrated solution ala Skully has no cables lingering around, and all the speaker/earplug problem solved.
Also, the Skully has a rear view camera, which I particularly like. No police sneaking behind me [roll]
The Nuviz has a front view only, AFAICS.
The nuviz seems like it could also potentially cause turbulence on the helmet/strain on the neck since it'd add a bit more drag(perhaps better would be to put the bulk of the pack on the back of the helmet and put very minimal hardware up front). It's still leaps and bounds better than the failure of sportvue.
So apparently the sticker price for one of the Skully helmets is around $1,500. Anybody on here going to get one? I know most of you have a lot more money to blow than I do. Lol
Es no bueno when wanting to use in conjunction with an intercom system. ;D

there is now a group buy option with "Club" pricing... 6 helmets for ~$6500... with apparently no option to replace the lining when it gets all manky.
I wonder how it deals with cold and rain... does it have a decent method of dealing with the fogging issue?
Tis like 4k TV's. Soon enough the price will come down. The first round of high tech toys always costs bank. As soon as China buys one the costs will come way down!
I would have to real world demo the Skully before laying out that kind of $$.
I still get emails from them - no booth at Moto Show in Long Beach -
Guess they still aren't in production from the tone of emails
For $1500.00 it needs integrated Garmin GPS and a bike to bike intercom. Screw the phone functions, I ride a bike so I don't have to answer the damn things anyway.

And here we are a year after the last post and the thing still hasn't been shipped.
Glad I wasn't one of those people who preordered and dropped $1500...
+1
Well, if you were ever thinking about getting a Skully helmet - forget it.
The helmet will never come out.

Quote"Interestingly, many of the people still waiting for their Skully AR-1 helmet actually come from the company’s Indiegogo fund raising campaign. However, a little-known fact with the Indiegogo terms of service actually makes it so Skully is not obligated to fulfill its “gift†promises to backers.
Today’s news means that those investors, not customers, will out of luck in terms of getting a physical product in their hands. Pre-orders made through the Skully website will likely see a similar result, which means over 1,500 people will be left without the helmets they were expecting."
15 million dollars wasted, all they had was a mock up of cheap Chinese helmet with some electronics in it. It was either the incompetence of owners or fraudulent plan from the beginning.
From what I kept hearing, to say that the electronics were glitchy were an understatement. If they make a camera that you can mount on the bike facing backwards that integrates with Google Glass, then you're golden.
In January BMW showed this demo:
