Good luck and have fun!
I'm confused. Where's the Mazda?
Sorry this wasn't the zoom you were expecting. [laugh]
"ZoooMazda" - our runner.
What the heck? Is he still running?!
Maybe he's still recovering??
Heard he got lost and refused to stop and ask for directions...
sorry folks...meant to respond sooner...man...what a humbling and hard experience...the pain I experienced was not anything I had imagined....nor the emotions I experienced after I finished...especially when the Marine Corporal that hung the medal around my neck saluted me and the 2 Navy Corpsmen assisting him giving out medals both made it a point to shake my hand.
I did not finish in the time that I had hoped, but I did finish. My splits are as follows...

I accept my time despite not being happy with it....there are just things that happen that you just can't plan for... I am not sure if I'll do another, but I do know logically I can beat this time....I spent the better part of yesterday recouperating...I had a good sports massage and walked around a little bit and then promptly started drinking and eating as I found I was still feeling like I had nothing in me from the experience....so here I am at work today and I am finally catching up and giving you my .02 up front on this...I am sure there will be more as more of this sinks in.

We were all slacking off, watching football, going to art museums, and drinking beer [cheeky]

I put off many a Friday night of beer drinking in post work week slack mode decompression due to my Saturday morning long slow distance runs....it will be nice to have some of those back now.
Try not to slip into post-race depression. No, I'm not making it up. I'm all too familiar. :P
You have you goal race...it doesn't go quite as expected...you get destracted and training drops off or stops...
Foods that you have not been eating/drinking due to training are no longer off-limits...
Stay focused and try to make smaller goal races, even if they are just 5ks to keep the momentum up.
Now is also the best time to cross-train, bike, swim, yoga....give the body a break from just running.
actually, my plan is to run some 5K's to work on besting my PR's for that as well as working on my 10K and half times....my goals as of this point are as follows...
break 24:00 for a 5K ( my PR right now is 24:02 ) but with all the training for the MCM, I have lost a lil speed and my last 5K was 24:39.
break an overall 8:00 pace for a 10K ( which my best right now is 8:24 in 52:14 )
I would like to break 1:50 for a half marathon. My best currently being 1:54:54 at 8:46 pace.
I have the opportunity to run a fun 5K this coming Saturday evening/Sunday morning. Mocktheclock5K.com which starts at 1:50am ( 10 minutes before the clocks roll back an hour) and you have a "negative time"....good after party and fun race when I have done it in the past.
I am also currently signed up for a 5K on Nov 23rd, and thinking about one also on Nov 17th. So I am not stopping on running, but I do in fact appreciate the advice and will definietly keep that in mind.
