Title: IMA Special Parts
Post by: freeclimbmtb on December 10, 2013, 09:53:20 AM
Does anyone know how to get in touch with these guys in the States these days?  I tried emailing josh but got a delivery failure.  I tried contacting him on here too but havent gotten a response.  Are they not importing anymore?  If so I might need to have someone across the pond do me a favor.

Something was said a month +/- ago about the Italy/US work distribution. Tried searching?

You'll get your needs satisfied  [thumbsup] either from here or there.

Talking about here/there...  I'm in Europe - can I help?
(IMA Special Parts were, by me, made aware of the fact that they don't have to charge Italian VAT when shipped outside the EU. However, receiving goods in Norway triggers local VAT)

Just email Patrick directly, he took great care of me. I had my custom billet triples at my doorstep in 1 week door to door from Italy. The quality was ridiculously good considering the low price.

There is no more IMA USA, they closed it up and brought it all back to Italy.

Ill have an email out to him shortly.

So heres my situation.  I bought the MOD2evo triples and no rise clipons last winter and installed them.  I had originally planned to get the riser top triple so I would have the option of going back to a riser bar if i wanted to do any touring.  For whatever reason I ended up going with the standard style top.  Low and behold, the bike is essentially unridable around town due to the complete lack of turning radius.  (Its also boarderline painful for anything over an hour.)  The long and the short of it is I need to get a riser top triple for the MOD2evo with 1098SBK Ohlins forks. Ideally would be to swap my triple top for the one I need but I realize this is a little unreasonable so I will just try and buy the one i need.  (Any guesses on what just  a top triple would run shipped from Italy?  I remember the parts I bought were quite nice and well worth the price.)

(in the end, I want to put the riser bars on with the new ohlins front end, but keep the clipons in case I ever get ambitious enough to go to the track.)

How about getting clip ons with risers? (Woodcraft or similar)

I paid â,¬30 for shipping outside the EU - probably something similar to the US

My first iteration of the project used woodcraft riser clipons.  They work, but I was disappointed in the finish, it turned a sort of purple within weeks.  I can't use the IMA riser clipons either if I want to retain my bikini fairing. (which I very much do)  For restoring the bike to the joy it used to be to ride (with the benefit of a fork thats actually worth something), the stock bars are the direction I've settled on going.  I just need to get the correct top to make it all work (along with some rizoma risers).  Ive sent Patrick an email, just playing the waiting game now.

I paid $57 shipping for my entire set, and my total was $663. (497 euro total, 44 euro shipping) if that gives you an idea. My risers were 55 euro (about $80).

So I'm guessing maybe $300 max for the top triple, plus $50 shipping...I have a catalog in my email, PM me your email addy and I'll fwd it to you.

I have a set of brand new anodized black risers for my Mod1EVO, for 7/8 handlebars (not tapered bars) if you can use them I'll sell em cheap. I ended up wanting to use tapered bars so they're still sitting here in the packaging.

Appriciate the offer, but 796=tapered bars.  Came in this morning to a response from Patrick confirming the size and style triple.  Hopefully Ill have a quote tomorrow.
