Title: Christmas Wish List
Post by: LMT on December 14, 2013, 07:54:30 AM
Did you kids make a list for Santa? Is it funny?  Post them here!

For us adults - make a list! Let your inner child shine  ;D  What do you really want others to get for you?

5 things. Post it up!

3: a radiation free life for my son.

4: that my daughter recieve the same epiphany i had, only she has it next week.... and not waiting until she's 39 like i did.

5: that michelle be granted the strength
to endure another  year with me.

^ I made it to 59! [beer] Although recently someone, somewhere handed off a teenage step son to me. ??? Oh well, there are still laws on the books passed by the State Legislature preventing me from having any of my own. ;) I voted for it!

Xmas wish list:

A good job... no, just a job.

Better health. Now I know why my Dad always said he was sick and tired of waking up every day feeling sick and tired.

More patience and tolerence. AKA: pipe dream.

My step son getting into LSU.

Also wishing he hadn't been cut from his high school baseball team.

Some books on being a better husband. I try. Just need to sand down the rough edges.

I'll think some more and get back with you...

49 here and no kids either.

A good job with good people, that pays a decent wage. Enough to live on and save for the future. Soon.

A safe, sunny, place to live with a bathtub.

A new bed. The one from the failed marriage has to go.

Good health for my dog Lucy.

Lastly, world peace or some new socks.

Take it from an experienced pro, ditch that cursed bed! [laugh] Can't tell you how nice it was to give the bed from my first marriage to a charity. But only after I said a prayer over so it would leave the new owners alone!! Go buy a new one. Start a donation thread, I'll kick in $5.00. [thumbsup]

Forget whirled peas go for the sox.

And may both our pooches have good health.

Compliments of the season.

Christmas aged 7, 8, 9, and 10 were spent in an orphanage. We got to make a Santa list. It could only be 5 items, and item #1 had to be a suitcase. So you would have one to put your things in if you ever left. So that really made a list of 4 items. We could only have one personal toy, so asking for more was out. My list was always the same:

suitcase
shoes
mix and match clothes
A watch
A pair of Levi's

I finally did get Levi's and a watch. Never did get a suitcase.

OK, sorry to be a holiday downer. I really did like the orphanage and Christmas there was fun.

My inner child is on hiatus, but the adult in me would like a few things beyond Maslow's basic needs.

1.  An online subscription to the New York Times
2.  An iTunes gift card. There is some new music I want that the library does not have
3.  A hand mixer
4.  City socks! http://skylinesocks.com/ (http://skylinesocks.com/)
5.  gators for my snowshoes

So as not to completely derail the thread,
I honestly am just happy to spend time with family and friends this holiday season.
Seems as the years go by, you see less and less of the people who are important to you.

Thanks.  Trying to get a friend who is interested-but-uninitiated into westerns over the winter break.  Have decided on ten and need those three DVDs to complete the collection: The Searchers, Magnificent 7, [something by Sergio Leone], Butch Cassidy and..., The Wild Bunch, Outlaw Josie Wales, Silverado, Tombstone, Unforgiven, and then end with something modern [maybe 3:10 to Yuma, the Proposition, ...?].

Just missed the cut: High Noon, Shane, Pale Rider, whatever Sergio Leone we don't watch, ...

I'm trying very hard to talk myself out of a shiny new mustang GT. with the new model coming out, incentives are starting to look very attractive on the current car. Besides, I'm due. I've been driving a '99 Jeep Cherokee since 2003.  It's finally starting to get cranky.

Blazing Saddles is one of my all time favorite movies... that's some serious funny shit! [laugh] Not to bust the thread topic but I begged my wife to get me the Blazing Saddles dvd a few years ago to replace my old vhs tape copy. She got it, great stocking stuffer at Christmas. I popped it in the player one night so we could watch it. She had never seen it. She lasted all of 5 minutes. She looked at me and said "you really think this is funny?" and walked away to go read her book. Proving once again my theory that some women don't have the humor gene in their DNA strand. [laugh] [laugh] [laugh] My apologies to all the DMF gals with the gene. [bow_down] [bacon] [popcorn]

End of thread jack.

PS  I LOVE The Unforgiven. Great flick. [thumbsup]

So, a couple of pages back, I mentioned that I was considering a new Mustang. Well, instead I found a 2006 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon in like new condition with 31k miles on it. I know, I know, two totally different vehicles. But both were high on my list and this one was pristine. Merry Christmas a day late.

I went and looked at it...pretty beat up.  It's been down once or twice, it has cheap loose aftermarket mirrors and there's a loose connection in the display such that a light behind the signal indicator blinks on and off.  It also appears to have lived outside for a while as there's a little surface rust here and there.

Nevertheless, I rode it (highway and backroads).  I was disappointed in the power/torque/delivery -- powerwise its got nothing on my Bandit.   Plus the side paniers are tiny (~19 liters) and barely fit a full faced helmet.  I've got three 47liter cases on my Bandit -- enough storage space for well over a month-long trip.   :o
