Title: Comp Werkes Slip on and ECU reflash
Post by: Radracer6 on December 17, 2013, 07:58:23 AM
Hi,

I'm getting the Comp Werkes Slip on and Motowheels offers a reflash of ECU for an additional 150. However the form has some options to remove exhaust valve and one for the O2 sensor. Should I check to remove those? Only mod will be the slip on

For now yes. Slip on will be first and I just wasn't sure what each of those do

Reading more now seems like the exhaust vale is just there for noise and emissions and seems everyone eliminates it. I assume i can disconnect the motor and cable after reflash

The O2 sensor I am not so sure about, does it change fuel mapping? Do i have to disconnect sensors or once the ecu is reflash it'll automatically bypasses them?

They did that same reflash for me including the O2 and exhaust valve on my 796, pretty standard I think.  You can then remove the exhaust valve and save the few ounces in weight if that turns you on.  FWIW in my case the reflash fell short of expectations, low speed running was somewhat improved but still lumpy.  Seems like everyone has a slightly different experience but for the $$ I'd go for it.

I get why they remove the exhaust valve but why the O2 sensor?

Best explanation I've read of open loop - closed loop...
