Title: A smarty pants scientist makes an easy anaology about our planet - And now I am
Post by: Skybarney on December 22, 2013, 02:07:26 PM
I found this while browsing about this morning.  With the Starfish die out I have been doing a lot of research into possible causes.  Sadly no one can seem to pin it down.  I then stumbled on this video.  It is a bit wild to think about.

A smarty pants scientist makes an easy anaology about our planet - And now I am scared.

Sorry it will not embed for some reason.  Worth watching though, it is short.

Bugger. I was hoping for some global warming as I'm sick of Melbourne's winters. ;D
Mind you, the Summers are already well hot enough.

How many scientists are truly seeking the truth rather than working to bolster their long held position? I dunno.

Agreed.  Although, DP thinks we have no winter at all.  But he's used to a Frostier Finish to the year.

Don't worry, he left out minor details like the lifespan of the bacteria, and how food gets distributed.

Granted, this world would be a crowded place if humans lived forever and reproduced continuously.
But they don't.

Just to be clear,  I am not the one scared, it was simply the title of the article.  IMO the world has environmental problems that I happen to think are going to pose some very serious issues in the not to far future.

The problem with any biosphere is it's complexity.  Pinning down the interaction of all the possible factors is near to be impossible.  That alone pokes some holes in Suzuki's simplistic explanation.  I still like it though as it does open a discussion.

Nah, no need for that when there's Soylent Green and death panels!  [thumbsup]
