Hi Guys, Has anyone here had any luck with tank bags or tail packs. I am looking for something for a night or two. Anyone have any pics of what you used? I am on the second mail order bag that has to be sent back and am getting a bit frustrated. Here in Sacramento there is not a single shop that carries squat, everyone wants to special order it.
I am tired of sending crap back and forth and Cycle Gear is a joke so can't buy stuff there. I also do not like the Monster specific tail pack. It is ugly and stupid expensive at nearly $300.00.
Also I have a fender elim kit and no passenger pegs and all the saddlebags look like they need some side support.
Thoughts Ideas and pics greatly appreciated.

Don't know what they have for your bike, but I've always had great experiences with Revzilla for buying my gear. They do free returns.

I really like the quality of the Kreiga stuff and have one of their backpacks. Their luggage looks great except that it being dry bag oriented means no easy stowing and stashing of gear. Personally I refuse to ride my Duc in the rain and being a bit of a weather expert I don't get caught out or plan rides when or where it might rain.
They do make some really nice stuff.
I have a Givi Tankloc bag that worked great on my Monster, and as it will not work on my current bike it is available. It is model T-480, expandable, goes on and off in 1 second.
It comes with a rain cover and the mounting system for the M1100.
Spike, thanks so much for the offer! Sadly one of the tiny little changes Ducati made to the 2013 model was no bolts around the gas cap. I already send one tank loc bag back and spoke with Givi today. Despite listing the 2013 Monster on their website they do not make a tank ring for it. The only way to attach such a ring to the 2013 is if the mount attached to the upper center tank ring/strip that surrounds the gas cap.
I may just settle out for a Cortech Super 2.0 bag in the large expandable size. It should work, hopefully. Doing a three day ride next week, it is supposed to be 70 degrees on the coast. [thumbsup]
The SW-Motech uses the bolts arond the front tank panel...

I have a strap-on Givi for the current Moto, an EA 102. With a piece of neoprene under the harness it doesn't slide around on the tank and the quick release fasteners make fueling easy. It doesn't have the capacity of the Tankloc butt will still hold a short case of beer!
For the last 20 years I have had a little Matra I say before riding.

It certainly is not for everyone but a couple years ago I sprang for a Ventura system because nothing else really worked for me. I use the big bag and rack for touring and keep the small sport rack on the Duc all the time with a small generic roll type tail bag attached to hold a rain suit and emergency tools etc. I hated the cost but given the lack of available space and the junk I like to carry I couldn't find another solution. It's great quality, fits well, I even have another Ventura rack fitted on my other bike. Sidebar for folks using two bikes: the racks come in different sizes to fit different bikes so don't count on switching between the two. I found that out the hard way [bang]

Plus 1 for this. Is nt the prettiest, but takes everything for a day, supplies for a week, and everything in between. And removable in minutes.
For tail bag I have Kriega US-30 combo, which is a a 20 l bag and 10 l tail bag.
When commuting I often carry the US-20 cause you can attach a shoulder strap to the bag, so when off the bike it becomes a shoulder bag. [thumbsup]
Here's a picture of it on the bike from one of my weekend rides. It carries a pair of jeans, underwears, t-shirts, shorts, rain gear, foot pump, tire plug kit, P&S camera, battery chargers etc.

For tank bag, I bought a Wolfman Explorer lite tank bag a couple of weeks ago. It's a 7 l bag that can be expanded to 13 l. I have used it on both the Monster and the TE630. I like it. It's easy to put on / strap to the bike and easy to remove. The straps also easy to remove and replace from one bike to another.
On both bike, the tank bag doesn't get in the way when I ride the bike. I think it's more stable on the monster cause it sits on a wider gas tank than when I put it on my TE which has a narrow tank. I don't have a picture of it on the monster yet.
edit: I forgot this. One thing that I don't really like about the Explorer Lite is the size of its map case: it's small...not the normal size map case. I had to refold my maps to fit into the case. Not really a big deal, but I wish it came with larger map case.
