Apparently to this rude movie patron his life was worth it. [roll]

Really, you HAVE to text your 3 year old daughter and refuse to stop after you have been asked to? What I heard on the news was the guy got irrate when the older man went to the lobby to complain to the staff and confronted him for doing so. It sounds like it went downhill from there.
What's wrong with saying you are sorry and get up and finish the text outside the theater? Like I told my wife, one less rude person at the movies. [popcorn]
Stupid waste on all accounts. :P
can't say i agree with shooting someone, but i do understand the
frustration with people who think that common courtesy / rules
don't apply to them.
obligatory:
Don't Talk - Angry Voicemail (Uncensored) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1L3eeC2lJZs#)
ok, slight correction ... i WOULD understand someone shooting that
valley-girl wanna-be trailer trash. and it would bring up the
collective IQ several points.
Now that would be doing society and the planet as a whole a favor... take that moron out of the gene pool. [thumbsup] I doubt she was only using her phone as a flashlight otherwise why would she comment about texting. As she willfully does in every other theater in town which I am sure also post messages on the screen about turning your devices off. Besides, aren't movie theaters supposed to be dark? [popcorn]
Glad they made her feel like a customer. ;D
At least the guy that shot the texter in Florida was a retired police Captain and not some racially driven gun packing nut like the press would love to make him out to be. Again, no winners in that confrontation. Sorry the 3 year old lost her rude father. Having the theater management throw him out would have been much better. Then he could leave a nasty voice mail on the theater's phone about how they ripped him off and made him feel like a customer. [laugh]
Around here, people text all the time during the previews. It stops when the movie starts.
Who in the hell shoots someone over texting and popcorn?
kidding aside ... to take a life for a rude act. wow ... i have
anger issues, but this guy need(ed) psychological help.
I agree, it's all stupid. But for all we know Mr. Text might have been physically assaulting the retired police officer and he fired in self defense. Just guessing here. We'll never know all the facts unless we were there and saw it. Personally, I would have just dumped a giant cola in his lap and on the phone and claimed it was an accident. Or back up a few aisles and launch some half chewed Milk Duds his way when the theater got dark. [evil] Certainly not worth shooting him over regardless how rude the guy was. Bet his wife won't text next time she goes to a movie.
remember the days of movie balconies? i had a british friend who (claimed)
to 'eject' unspeakable things off the balcony onto unsuspecting guests
below.
I simply don't understand America's love affair with hand guns. Luckily, I was born with a giant pistol. ;D

A 71 yr old retired cop who probably should've turned in his gun along with his tin badge, that's who.
Lot's of supposition going on here. [bang]
At least I'm confident you guys will make the beast with two backs it up and get this locked. [thumbsup]
I'll wait to hear the rest of the story before I make my own judgement
but
I don't think that guy possesses the correct mindset to carry a firearm in public.
There are small issues and big ones. Other peoples behaviour at a theater always qualifies as a small issue.
Big issues are for guns
Small ones are for words. Or fists I suppose. It can be a sliding scale.

Marcus would handled it differently.
Small issue to him likely.

The guy was probably from the striped pajama party and he and the cop who was a card carrying member of the polkadot hat reformation group had a difference of opinion about wether Star bellied Sneeches should have more rights. [cheeky]
Nice save Dave!
Questions are popping up all over this!

I had a debate over Self Control. ;D
The gun man was "standing his ground".
That's once.
I shouldn't have bothered posting this. I knew it would fall apart. My point was people behaving rudely with their phones in public and how things got so badly out of hand. Not condoning rude phone behavior or extreme violence against those who behave that way. It's a real life example of two extremes in our crippled society.
Oh... never mind. I guess now it's turned into an experiment in how and when one of you gets this locked. [roll]
Take the high road and lock it yourself.
It will look better if you do it vs him ;)

IBTL for sure!
Just gonna sneak some pesky ol' logic in here...
why does the kop deserve "the benefit of the doubt" and to have "all judgement reserved until the facts come forward", but it's ok to assume the dead father was a rude @sshole who shouldn't have done ____ or ____? Espec since we'll never hear his side of the story...
?
Rest assured someone was taping this event. :P
These don't get locked until I post.

The retied LEO does not deserve the benefit of the doubt. There is no reason to shoot someone for throwing popcorn or texting. Hopefully, he will have a trial and be found guilty.
make the beast with two backsing asshole ex-cops and on duty ones need to learn that it is not OK to kill others without just cause.
