Title: New Ducati Monster 796 Owner- Austin, Tx
Post by: ssrealty on February 22, 2014, 04:34:14 PM
Just discovered this form. I purchased my first 2013 Ducati Monster 796 a few months ago. This is my third bike. Still have my Yamaha 2005 FJR 1300. I found I did not ride the Yamaha much but decided to keep for longer rides. I am enjoying the Ducati. Have put 1,000 miles on it since November. This pretty good considering my Yamaha is almost nine years old and only has 7,000 miles on it.

I wanted a lighter more nimble bike. The Ducati certainly handles well an is a lot of fun to ride. I am just an average rider. Still trying to get used to the low RPM lag. Have only owned inline 4 bikes before, and the Twin L is a different animal. I did install the 14T sprocket, but did not notice much of a difference. May have changed too soon to notice.

I have purchased tickets for the Ducati Island event for MotoGP in Austin at Circuit of Americas. Looking forward to the event. Went to MotoGP last year. Anyone attending the event?

Welcome. I test drove a '09 FJR 1300 a few months before I ended up getting my first Duc. The FJR just seemed heavier than I would enjoy and the electronic shifting killed the rest of the motorcycle experience for me.
