How the hell do people have all four taken out at once? Holy crap. I had only one removed on Monday. Monday night not so bad. Tuesday a little lump. Wednesday morning? Oh shit! WTH happened? My jaw swelled up like ten times over. Wound bleeding like a mother again. Almost thought I needed to go back to the oral surgeon. Starting to settle down now but I have no idea how people have that swelling on all four quadrants at the same time.
That is all.
I'm told it gets worse as one gets older. I had three out at once when I was 31. Holy hell. Wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy. Apparently one of them took a chunk of jaw bone with it.
I had all four removed, but was probably one of the lucky few - one pain killer that night - that was it (besides one got infected and required clean up).
Very individual how the roots are - some require more than just a simple pull....
DMF [clap]
All mine were stolen. Does that mean I'm four times less wise?
I still have all of mine at the ripe old age of 45.
They don't act up much anymore, but one sort of juts out enough that I bite that side of my mouth good and hard once in a while. But I live with it, since getting rid of them now would be a freakshow.
I had all 4 of mine removed when I was 17. Wasn't a big deal...not much swelling, and only took 1 pain pill the next day. Guess I was lucky...and had a good oral surgeon.
Lucky me, I've still got all of mine and they came in with plenty of room & no complications. Either I'm not getting much wisdom benefit from them, or I'd be pretty much hopeless if I'd had them out.
Some of the worst wisdom tooth horror stories I've heard are from guys who had them removed at the hands of a military dentist. Not that they did it wrong per se, but clearly patient comfort didn't even show up on the list of priorities.
Ok, I'll share my suckage story.
Back when DP was a young man (early 80's)
I had to have my wisdom teeth pulled, was also going thru a divorce.
Since had to use vacation time, instead of having two sucky days why not just have one really sucky day.
Plan was working until the court system got a little behind and the "2:00" hearing didn't go until 3. Of course at this point the all the drugs / shots had worn off. [bang]
Pineapple juice with a little vodka works wonders. ;)

Same here. I was about 15 y/o. Worse part was the placement of the IV in the back of the hand. Not a fan of needles other than allergy shots.
Wife had horrible recovery. Cheeks doubled in size and 20+ years later, I think she still has some numbness.
Had mine out Xmas break freshman year of college. All 4 bone impacted.
Voimited blood and looked like a chipmunk for days. I can't take narcs so I was on my own pain wise.
Got an absces in one of my sockets and had to have opened up and cleaned out. One of the most discusting form of pain relief I had ever endured.
I had all four of mine taken out when I was 19. The only bad part was the dry sockets I got a day or two after the surgery. Other than that, I was fine.
