Title: Ducati Diavel Mirrors for Monster 796
Post by: ssrealty on June 05, 2014, 08:07:05 PM
I swapped out my Monster OEM mirrors for a set of Ducati Diavel mirrors. Purchased them on ebay. I now have useable mirrors. You an see behind you, and the mirrors have very, very little vibration. I highly recommend this upgrade. They also look great.

If you want better mirrors with significantly less vibration, get a pair of Diavel mirrors. I think the Monster 1200 has the same mirrors as the Diavel set.

Weird, on my M620, I installed SF mirrors and it was way better than the "Mickey Mouse" OEM mirrors it had . ..  now, I have bar ends

I don't have a problem with vision or vibration with my stock 1100 mirrors so either the op is built like a brick sh!t house or really tall! I just bought some Rizoma dynamics which haven't arrived yet but guessing it will be looks over function!  [laugh]

Pics also?

Better than lollipops obviously. Hard to tell but those don't appear to be appreciably larger or longer than the stockers. You might want to try a Rizoma bar though as it's 5/8" higher and has 2" more sweep. Kinder to your wrists!  ;) Mine is an MA008A. Sponsor - Monsterparts may have them but you can see them clearer, with specs, on this site: http://www.motovationusa.com/mvstore/scripts/prodView.asp?idproduct=562 (http://www.motovationusa.com/mvstore/scripts/prodView.asp?idproduct=562)

Then you need a 14T front sprocket and "all will be revealed".  ;D (The one for a 796 is special thpugh, so be careful. Driven Racing part # 1067-525-14T.) Monsterparts has those too.  ;) To fit the bar though, you need to drill the bar for the locating pins from the controls..., so measure three times...  8)

I test drove 796 with both the mickey mouse and the OEM plastic ones. All I know is I can now see behind me, and the vibrations are significantly less. I hated both OEM mirrors.

I think the metal shaft and shape of the mirrors make a difference. Before, all I could see in my mirrors was my jacket/arm. I had almost no view.

I also had dealer install the 14T front sprocket last year.

Have had no real issues with vibration but my set-up is not stock either and the dealer set up my mirror mounts with me aboard which might explain that. Will check out the Diavel mirrors though as the view could be better.

When I set the mirrors on the new bikes, I sit on the bike and usually have then a little "more open" than factory might suggest, even they don't or at least I haven't seen any specs on how to set them up.

The way I do it:

Mirror totally flat inside the housing I should be able to see just a little of my elbow, none of the customers have said anything negative about the mirrors. One customer who purchased a M696 from previous stealer, asked if Ducati had replaced the mirrors with longer stemed ones, I said NO . . . I have a straigth edge long enough to make sure they're "straight"
