Not really sure how much time I will have since I will most likely be working at night due to rehearsals during the day but I would still like to have a plan if I do have some free time.

That has been my experience in the past.
There is a local brewery, Rust Belt Brewing, that has some great brews. [beer]
They used to be located in the old train station, but I believe they have moved to a location closer to downtown.
Their website is down, but they are on facebook. B and I stopped in on our way through a couple years ago. The owner's were super nice and really proud of their beer.
We ate at an artsy café on the main drag, the name escapes me, that the brewery recommended. The food was good and they had a decent tap list.
I know that development/revitalization has picked up a lot due to all the new $$ from hydrofracking in the area.

I'm burning with envy. Never been there but it's on my bucket list. Youngstown looks like a vacationers paradise and gateway to the spectacular Ohio landscape.

I grew up there and got the hell out when I was 19. when the steel mills closed it kind of died.
There is a rebirth happening in very small areas but I think it might be to late for the city on the whole.
However some good things: Rust belt brewing is great, downtown in the old Erie train terminal.
The Butler Institute of American art I very nice if you are into those sorts of things.
Charley Staples BBQ is very good soul food type cooking.
Quaker Steak & lube is a fun time with great wings
If you find yourself just south of the city in a little town called Struthers. go to The Elmton. The best Pizza I have ever had and the fried chicken is to die for. IT is so worth the trip if you have time to kill.
Mill creek park is nice if you are looking to walk or if you are so inclined they have a great Par 3 golf course.

Youngstown... what can I say? I was in complete shock at how far gone that town was.
That said, I loved it. I had a pleasant time and met some great people. Good beer was had and decent food too.
- Second night there, we made our way out towards Cleveland to a place called Fat Heads. Awesome food and so many good brews. I sampled several IPAs that made it well worth the dip.
- We drank at a bar called Suzies Dogs and Drafts. 26 beers on tap and a pretty nice atmosphere.
- Rust Belt Brewery was a neat little place. Twas a shame there were very few people in the place that evening. I liked the atmosphere but the beer didn't do much for me.
- Back to Cleveland for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on friday. Awesome but terribly overpriced to get in. We ate at a place up the street called Winks. I had an amazing Bison burger and the beer was great too. Several good brews to choose from.
- There was a small corner coffee shop we visited every morning on the main drag (Federal St.). Great coffee and the owners/employees were enthusiastic. Great way to start the days.
- Visited the Butler Institute of American Art. I'm very glad I got to see a few of the Hudson River School paintings there. Very neat collection at the museum.
- There were 2 other bars mixed in there somewhere. They were both out towards where we were staying in Canfield.
- We made it one evening to the Mill Creek park. Saw the old mill and hiked around for a bit that evening. It's really neat how that park is right in the middle of everything. We definitely enjoyed that breathing space.
In the end, we crammed a lot into our one week out there. I really feel like we got to experience the town. I was surprised at how nice the locals were and they all seemed to be excited about the bit of revitalization that is happening there. Still, I cannot help but feel very little hope that the town will ever be what it used to be. We had a great time and I am glad that I had the opportunity to check it out.
I have yet to find anything in Ohio I enjoyed other than a few friends. As a whole Ohio is a shit hole.
Agreed although I was pleasantly surprised at how nice Cleveland was.
Maybe that is because I lived in Philly for 5 years though...
Sorry I missed this. Cleveland's my home town, happy to hear you enjoyed the city and our people. I would've recommended a couple punk rock dive bars on the west side and that you take in a ballgame at Jacob's Field if the Tribe was in town. Almost 20 years old now but still one of the finest parks in MLB.
We hadn't much time to spend in Cleveland.
But I liked it enough that I'd like to take a trip back.
I really wanted to get to the Cleveland Museum of Art.

It's one of the finest in the world, and free (there's a suggested donation). The natural history/prehistoric museum next door is fantastic as well if anthropology and dinosaur bones interest you.

There were a lot of justifiably pissed off people when Lebron left, but that was waaayyyy exaggerated. I think all of 2 people were filmed burning jerseys, ESPN loves to smear our city.
And the letter posted on the site? It's a business. Miami fans will not be burning jerseys, mainly because they're the worst fair weather fans in the world. That might have been another reason he decided to leave.
What can I say, unbridled passion. :) I'll never forget Miami fans leaving one of the greatest NBA games of all time early...
