Title: RAM steering stem mount for GPS
Post by: brecchi on July 09, 2014, 07:46:10 PM
On a 2001 Monster 900, can the steering nut be easily removed and a RAM mount inserted, or will that mess with anything inside the steering stem?  I havent seen this mod on a Monster this old, only with the newer style steering stems.

Not 100% 2001 900 but those steering stem mounts are for mostly Japanese bikes that have a hole threw the steering stem.

Dunno, but for Monsters that had bars but now have clip-ons and s stock upper triple this works:

Part Number:
RAM-B-252U RAM 2.25" x 0.87" Base with 11mm Hole and 1" Ball

Oh, not the S4.

I wouldn't mind a mount to hold my Tom Tom on a future adventure bike.

Thanks again Howie.  I have an aftermarket triple though (Cycle cat I think) , in addition to the clip ons.  The link you sent for the mirror mount could work though.  Ideally, I would like to have the GPS centered and somewhat protected by the little fairing.  I also figured out that I think I can fit a small U-bolt based mount through the machined-out spaces in the new triple.
