Title: I want this!
Post by: Skybarney on July 20, 2014, 10:14:20 AM
I want some talented welder to make a trellis sub frame for my 2013 Evo.  I do not see any reason why the aluminum sub could not be replaced with a steel trellis.  Then again I am not a machinist so maybe I am missing something.  It seems to me though that if BST can get 2k for a carbon sub that there would be a market for a trellis kit.

Imagine an Evo with a full trellis frame...  I want!

totally doable.

if you dont plan on doing 2-up you could do a super light aluminum one

I don't think the dimensions are easily available.  However pulling a sub frame off for prototyping would be worth some down time to me.

Imagine a Evo with a full trellis......  Then it will be just an aluminum tank and some Ohlins tubes and some BST wheels to complete my ultimate Duc.

i swear to god i saw a thread here earlier where someone had fabricated one - i cant find it now though!  where did it go??

the other option is to go the route he-man went and drop your motor into an s2r frame...you'd need to fabricate brackets for the rear shock or use the trellis rear swing arm (which, c'mon, is make the beast with two backsing gorgeous) but it'd totally be a sweet project. I wonder how much work it would take to make the new tank/seat/etc. fit the old frame...

he did a motor swap on his and kept the rest of the bike s2r, but it would be pretty cool to take the best of each and have a hybrid s2r/1100evo

I'm sure Randy at StradaFab can create a titanium new gen subframe for someone with enough cash...

I am but a poor hot air balloon pilot, I would have to pimp myself out in West Hollywood to afford Randy's work!  Freaking brilliant it is.
