I decided to remove my hard wired GPS harness and mount since I rarely use it. My iPhone maps are used more anyways. I found this USB charger that connects directly to a SAE charger pigtail, charges my iPhone and with a bar mount for my phone, this is all I need. Supplies 2.1v

Nice. But what about if it rains unexpectedly?

That would suck! :'(
I used this charger / set up when I rode to SBK Laguna Seca and I ran into the usual morning fog, sprinkles and cold weather. I definitely worried for my phone getting wet, but my mount places the phone behind my wind screen, in its case, it did not get wet. I would have placed it in my pack if the weather turned really bad. The charger is rubberized for bike use with a plug to seal the opening.
I removed my hard wired, weather proof zumo GPS because most of my riding is local and not usually in foul weather. My iPhone with GPS, music, sent to my Bluetooth head set is all I need. Plus my head set can also be charged with the USB.
;)
I bought one of those USB charger plugs a while back to charge my phone when i'm out on an extended adventure... [thumbsup]
