Hi I'm Ian from Manchester UK. As instructed, I have virtual beer and donuts although I'd rather get you a real one of we meet at some point. I've just bought my first Monster, an M900, which is also my first bike in many (too many!) years. Always wanted a Monster and couldn't resist. I'm a little nervous about getting back in the saddle although done a few refresher sessions locally. Any advice on riding Monsters and the 900 in particular would be appreciated. I know the suspension is quite hard especially for the state UK roads are in and am looking to do something about that. I'd also like to improve the bike so any advice on where to find parts and add-ons gratefully received.
Welcome [thumbsup]
they are a little hard to master, but you'll do well after 'a while'. 'A while' depends on how much you ride. Ride a lot!
To soften the on/off throttle and clutch - maybe feather the clutch a bit.
It's not easy to know which mods you need until you get used to the bike - until then, just ride it and make notes about what you think, like or dislike. Maybe these things can be fixed, maybe not - maybe it's worth it, maybe not. When/if you start to modify - only one mod at a time, so you'll be able to evaluate what the result is.
You'll most probably have a great time - good luck [Dolph]
Welcome to this international community.
Ride and evaluate as Stopintime said. Suspension work on an older machine is worthwhile if not for a freshen up. After you have some experience on the bike find a reputable suspension shop that can re-valve and re-spring your suspension then talk to them with your feedback.
Cheers.
Good choice. 900s are the best. I think it's due to the extra coating of "sprezzatura" the italians used on those models.
Welcome aboard. [thumbsup]
