Title: Food poisoning
Post by: Rudemouthsky on August 11, 2014, 06:13:39 PM
I'd say I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy after what I just went through, but there's some mofos out there I really don't like. In any case that shi* sucks. 8 hours of writhing in agony in a crummy Georgia motel room I deliriously drive to a crappy hospital in Gwinnet cuz my guts felt like they were being ripped apart. Thank god for morphine, man that is some good shiz. I refused it twice, finally succumbed after all other pain management attempts failed. The doctor and nurses liked me much better after that.

Moral of the story is make the beast with two backs you Taco Bell, and I do NOT recommend going through what I did Saturday night/Sunday afternoon.

Yea, it's not pretty.  I drank Gatrade during my last bout.  After sipping all evening on Gatorade and thinking all was well, it all came back up like my nose was a soda fountain.

It always sucks when you get sick, but it really sucks when you get sick from food you love. I got food poisoning from Chipotle last year. I just tried it again for the first time last week. I missed that place. All is well again.

Yep. And I def have no love for Taco bell.  Was late and a bean burrito was the only thing available to me.

I hear you. I got Salmonella in London one time. Lost over ten pounds in three days, and I didn't vomit once.

[laugh] You're on a roll ;D  You got a link to Johnny Cash's "Burning Ring of Fire"? :o

It was so bad I was hallucinating and went to hospital. It was an epidemic that killed quite a few people.

Now that song is going to be in my head all night.

But hey this stuff is funny until it happens to me.  :D

Fortunately. That sounds so bad and is common with gastro illnesses, but luckily not me.
Big weight loss though.

Last time I got the sickness I was also on the road. Hit me in the middle of a sales call about an hour after some lukewarm sausage gravy at Denny's. Used my customers bathroom and totally wrecked it. The guy didn't have any toilet paper so I mopped my ass up with paper towels and clogged up his shitter. I ain't been back there :P. Rented the first motel I could find, a Motel 6 and was holed up 2 days projectiling at both ends.

This time around I think was worse, because one of my regular meds stops me up so I *couldn't* achieve the necessary purge. Felt like a barb wire wrapped pallet of bricks in my stomach. I hate hospitals and I'm loathe to go unless really necessary...it once took me a week to go in after fracturing my arm attempting BMX stunts in my 20s. So this was baaad. Felt like I was dying. Whatever cocktail they put me on was magic tho. And it's amazing how different you're treated when you plunk down that Supermed One card. Otherwise they stop the bleeding and kick your ass to the curb, lol. Just got an email from my provider and they've already submitted almost $3000 in claims. I bet the morphine wasn't cheap. :D

Lucky...I was very glad to have a trash can in the can during my 3 day Salmonella battle.  [puke]

I have only had food poisoning once. Barfed goat and wild mushroom ravioli out my nose.  :'(

The only bright spot was clear sinuses for about a week.

I got food poisoning once from some bad hot dogs when I was younger.  I was throwing up every half hour like clockwork.  After a couple of hours, I got sick of dry heaving and was hungry even though I couldn't keep anything down, so I made myself a bowl of vanilla ice cream.  It was then that I discovered something miraculous...  When you regurgitate ice cream, it comes up cold so it is soothing on your throat, and it still tastes like ice cream, so it isn't bad at all.  Ever since then, whenever I get a stomach virus, I eat ice cream until I stop throwing up... It works like a charm!!  [thumbsup]

I once got food poisoning from dropping 7 shots of 151 with a little amaretto floated on top into 7 beers.  I didn't drink a Dr Pepper for 5 years after that.

My wife USED to have wicker waste baskets in our bathrooms.......until I ate some bad sushi one night and had it exploding out of both ends.  Wicker, Bad.

With all the excellent mexican food places in Gwinnett that are open 24 hours you pick Taco Hell?

Damn this thread and the power of suggestion.  Took my oldest sons soccer team to chipotle last night.  Halfway through my steak burrito bowl I started getting stomach cramps and bloating.  No events other than prolonged gaseous ones, luckily.

After watching their operation, I'm not so crazy about having 12 different people handling/dealing with my food.

Hmm I lived in ATL for 5 years and never would've thought there'd be 24 hr mex joints in Gwinnet. Maybe Buford Highway but not Gwinnet
