Title: rearsets for tall riders
Post by: showerfan on September 04, 2014, 02:28:04 PM
Hello gents-

I just got a Monster 1100 Evo and i need a few inches more legroom. I've ordered the taller seat from Ducati but was also hoping I could find some rearsets that have some adjustability down from stock.

Rizoma doesn't move lower, I know, but what about the others? Anyone know? AEM looks like a posibility... or are there lowering brackets out there, machined to drop rearsets an inch or two?

Thanks, Matt

Your own solutions from 2012 will work on the Evo as well  [thumbsup]

The new AEM picks up where CycleCat left (?) off and might be what you need, although only 5 positions available - hopefully all located in the relevant area. Lowering will still risk scraping pegs at extreme lean angles, but maybe a bit rearward is all it takes (open hip angle).

None of those solutions really worked for my m900 -- it's in the living room now :)

I would own these if I had your factory rear sets

Install in place of your factory peg, they rotate 360* and come in colors. Shift tech no longer has them on there website, but I've seen knock offs on flea-bay.

Why not?

The AEM, like CycleCat, seems to position the pegs a little further out - which combined with a lower position probably will result in scraping pegs.

GillesTooling will be more narrow and has plenty of adjustment. Buy direct or (I think) from MotoVation.

The problem with those -- I have them on my m900 -- is that they stick put from the bike, setting your feet wider apart. It's also tough to make the shift and brake levers feel smooth and factory with those.

I may need to find a machinist who can just make a bracket like LT Snyder's desmotimes makes for the ST's.

Not sure about the new monsters but i raised the ride height alignment in mine.. It makes a big difference. I was over crapped before, i am 6'1

It puts you in a slightly more aggressive forward lean angle too, not sure if bothers  u

I've done that on my m900 as well, not sure yet about the 1100

My problem seems to have been at least partially solved by the taller ducati performance comfort seat. It raises my ass up so my knees don't need to bend as much. Onlyrics issue now is that I slide forward into the tank. Need to find a custom seat guy around here for some more front padding.

Grippy tank pads work well  [thumbsup] (TechSpec Clear or StompGrip)

Not fair against the lines of the bike, but very functional:
