I agree though they should get better as the year goes on. I think Alabama is a bit over-rated too. Too much credit for beating a bad Florida team.
I want to say Oklahoma is the best team in the country right now but Stoops usually finds a way to lose a game he shouldn't. In my eyes they are the most complete team in the country.
Oregon is obviously really good too. Marriotta playing really well so far.

I think all of the poles are reaching for some way to stay relevant in the new era of a NCAAF playoff system. That said, there is still the same old bias for the SEC..... :P
the best thing about college football is that it (in general) keeps the 18 to 25 yr old prison population lower than it would be otherwise ;D
Last weekend was a crazy one. Always happens when a highly ranked team loses on Thursday night.
I guess I was wrong on both Oregon and Oklahoma. Oregon has big issues on the offensive line. I still expect them to win the PAC-10 and make the playoffs.
SEC is looking more vulnerable. Still can't believe Indiana beat Missouri in their own stadium.
I'm thinking that for the 1st year of the playoffs they will take all conference champions.
Where you at Zilbert? Maybe headed to the Penn State game tomorrow? Just buy a couple of Cokes and you can get in for free!!!!!
Seriously I hope Michigan beats Penn State this week so ticket prices for the OSU game at Happy Valley come down.
As long as the playoffs depend on the polls to define the teams, we will always have issues.

Technically they are supposed to not count on the polls. We really have no idea how the committee is going to handle picking the teams.
I think we all know that they will use the polls

You're welcome. [cheeky]
On a more serious note though, the entire Big Ten is ugly. I mean the Hawkeyes and the Gophers have the same conference/overall records as the "best" team in the conference. If I was your Buckeyes, I wouldn't be looking past Rutgers. The Scarlet Knights seem to have everything to fight for: being 1 win away from bowl eligibility, wanting to make a name for themselves in the new conference and having a dangerous offense.
Even a weakened SEC is still way more than the Big Ten can handle.
I'm sure the team is taking them very seriously. They have played a super weak schedule though. It's going to be hard for them to go to the Shoe and beat OSU in front of 108,000. I'll be there welcoming them here for the first time.
While Gary Nova has played well the last couple of games he has a propensity to make bad decisions when pressured and will be going up against the best dline in the conference. On the other side of the ball if OSU's oline can give JT any time at all their skill position players are better than anything Rutgers has seen.
Quote from: metallimonster on October 15, 2014, 05:28:02 AMthe best dline in the conference
???
I'm confused...according to the Big Ten conference stats page, that would be flat out incorrect...
http://www.bigten.org/sports/m-footbl/stats/2014-2015/confldrs.html (http://www.bigten.org/sports/m-footbl/stats/2014-2015/confldrs.html)
Wow really you took the time to look that up? But I didn't say total defense I said Dline. Doesn't matter to me. I'm happy where my team is right now after losing a top 3 heisman contender senior QB.
Make you feel better about how shitty Michigan is?
I'm looking forward to the FSU/ND game this weekend. I haven't been able to tell how good either of those teams are. I'll give the edge to FSU since it's at home.
At some point is FSU going to have to suspend Winston? Georgia suspended Gurley as soon as they found out about the autographs. I love how the rhetoric has changed. When players at OSU got free tattoos it was the biggest deal and everyone was calling for the death penalty. Now its just "Well the rules suck" which I agree with but they are still the rules. Feels like with how the rape investigation went down (not saying he did it just that it was a blatantly mishandled investigation by the police) and now this it seems like Winston/Fisher/FSU could care less.

You can probably check this by the ranking of rush yards against and sacks. I refuse to click on any link that provides specific info about the Big Ten in general. I've hated this season since week 1 so actively looking at anything from this conference would simply serve to piss me off even more.

Man I was really trying to not be like that this year. I kept off it for awhile but his double standard when it comes to me really grinds my gears. I hate that Michigan is so bad. Makes the rest of the Big Ten look bad.
I at least try to talk about other games/things going on in CFB as a whole.

Maybe it is your selective memory at *your* double standard?
My original comment was a very veiled and not outwardly insulting comment on the loss to VT. I was even willing to give props to the Buckeyes for bouncing back from a pretty debilitating loss of their dual threat QB.
It was you who posted twice with disparaging comments in some lame ass attempt to call me out.
Name one tough team that OSU has played so far. Exactly.
My entire comment wasn't even directed specifically at the Buckeyes but at the Big Ten as a whole.
I will happily lay down a wager that not a single Big Ten team will be one of the 4 play off teams. The conference is that weak. Period.
But to claim that I made some great effort to actually look up the statistics for the season instead of randomly pulling some claim out of my ass with absolutely no basis in fact is asinine. Especially when you consider that after typing bigten.org, it was exactly 3 clicks to find the facts.
Enjoy the rest of the season guys. I'm sorry for doing this once again. Time for me to just be done with it.
Only Mississippi State fans are happy with how the season has gone this year.

I don't watch TV, don't even have one....except the occasional game when I am at work.
And I am rooting for the outcome which best benefits my preferred team.
But now that you mention it, when I watch a game where I don't have a preferred team....i tend to root for the underdog.

As much bile as it raises in me, I would like to see the B1G walk away with a championship. [puke]
Unfortunately, with the way that Oregon has been playing since their loss to Arizona, I am not sure OSU has enough for 'em.
EVERYONE on that offense is friggin' fast...even the linemen. And they don't slow down. Most games this season, their first half numbers were matched or eclipsed in the second half when teams are supposed to be getting tired.
That's because by the time the second half rolls around, the defensive linemen are exhausted. With no pass rush, the DBs are screwed. We all know that Oregon should score pretty steadily. What I want to see is if OSU can keep up.
Houston-Pitt game was awesome.

Quote from: kopfjäger on January 02, 2015, 01:53:52 PMTennessee is getting after Iowa
I know I bust OSU fans' balls about being insanely dedicated but Iowa fans (and I am from Iowa) are so delusional that they have accepted mediocrity as greatness and strive for mediocrity year in and year out. Iowa hasn't been truly good since Hayden Fry retired.
But to hear the fans blabbing on Facebook, Iowa is going to have a miraculous 4th quarter, tie it up with 0:02 to go and then win it on an onside kick recovered and ran for a touchdown.
Yes...they are THAT delusional.
At least the OSu fans have something to back that cockiness up. :-*

I do enjoy that ESPN has had to eat their words about the B1G being a weak conference.
I mean the conference wasn't stellar by any means this past season but even my Wolverines put up more points on the Buckeyes than Oregon.
