I didnt think it would be so over the top but I'm pretty impressed... a rolling showcase of what can be done vs what just sells to the masses.
My only question is how much the extra rotational inertia from the supercharger is going to affect the handling. And if the H2 street model is going to be legal for WSBK.
Two words come to mind; Un-rideable and FUGLY! Is this monstrosity supposed to actually be ridden by a human or is it strictly a race bike?
Origami.

Origami.
Well said. That actually came to my mind as well!!
I heard the street version would ONLY be like 240hp :o
I would love to get a chance to ride one though!!!

Exactly ???
Only from Kawasaky, delivering ugliness since 1963 ;D
I'm kinda into the new design language... I think it's original at least and a way better representation of what they are going for than the Z1000.
Origami/Transformer but at least I can look at it and know what brand it is right off the bat.
ah yes the Moto GP wannabe faction is moist in their happy place with this one :)
The new Kawasaki H2R!

I think the whole thing is kick ass. I am not a huge fan of the styling per se but I like the attitude of "look at what we CAN do". I think the next step is "here is what we are GOING to do". I think there is a place for forced induction in the (near) future and while 1000cc's and 300HP is over the top for a production bike, consider 500cc or 750cc with a supercharger. I like where this is going!
Mark
So, they put a watercraft motor in a scoot.
Albeit, where does one use 300hp?
Shit, I can't make use of 140. :P
I'm sure Stu will see it at Bonny. :o
jesustapdancingchrist
It is... nuts, bold, definitely a Kawi with that design. I applaud their balls, honestly.
Styling is... not my cup of tea
Although I have a new-found love of engine cut-aways. Gods, i could stare at those pics for hours

So, I'm not the only one who saw the slight resemblance...
The Pani was the first thing that came to my mind
Pretty much everyone saw the similarities, but the shell in this case really does take a back seat to the gigantic motor.

"First you hear the telltale sound of a high-revving inline-four building up rpms. As the bike goes through the gearbox, you can also hear a mysterious chirping noise. The sound dispels the notion that the H2 will be turbocharged, as the there is not audible indication of a blowoff valve between shifts.
What that chirp is, Kawasaki is leaving us to speculate. To our ears, it sounds like the bike is breaking traction on a dynamometer â€" a sign that the Kawasaki H2 could be a torque monster. Is there the whine of a supercharger mixed in there as well? That’s for your ears to decide."
The front view looks like a bad first draft of Megatron from Transformers...

I think I would disagree with A&R here... sounds like a blow-off valve to me.
That should indicate a centrifugal supercharger (as opposed to a positive displacement type) given the lack of exhaust routing for a turbo.

Well played, sir.
I know it's been said but why are all these bikes looking like some sort of Cylon/Robotech thing?
Can't stand the look of the thing, and it's nearly 3 times the power I need to go down the highway. Other than that I'm sure the tail light works great and my grandma would probably approve of the thing.
well they copied Aprilia first now Ducati. BUT that engine [drool]
There has already been a bill sponsored in the senate to put mandatory restrictions on motorcycles sold in the United States. Stuff like this, cool as it might be, is exactly the kind of thing that will force the issue.

Umm... what?
The googles does not return any results regarding this... just information regarding which states have repealed helmet laws, and which direction California is trending regarding loud pipes.
We're not going to get into an involved discussion regarding legislation.

Wouldn't the fact that this is a track only bike exempt it from any rules about road bikes?
I think people are forgetting this is NOT a road bike.

This discussion needs to be about bikes, not politics, and I only brought it up in the context of talking about bikes. BTW, don't believe everything you read...
There was a real bill for this at one time, similar to this (https://rideapart.com/articles/the-facts-behind-europes-pending-100-hp-motorcycle-limit), but information on it is sketchy since it never made it out of committee.
As for the looks of the bike, well, I've seen worse.

So it should handle just like a Kawasaki H2. [thumbsup]
I love it. Almost.
There are a few things that could be improved upon. I am not a fan of black chrome paint. The Japanese designers seem incapable of creating any organic shapes.
But it reminds me of the new Corvettes, in that, when you see static pictures of them they don't look that nice but when you see them moving at all different angles they look great!
As far as Leno focusing on the seat, well I think the seat would be the last thing you're thinking of when you ride it [evil]
The H2R pipe looks beautiful and sounds rasty. [thumbsup]
And all at a reasonable price! [laugh]
