I can barely hold my breath for one minute !!!

Dunno how he does it. I used to be able to dive 40' and when I got down there i could only stay down a few seconds. Probably couldn't do it today. 25' maybe 30' if I did it now.
I'd rather be laying down on a flotation device with a frosty adult beverage in hand.
Cameraman has tanks.
You could stick to the swimming pools...

Emphasis on
"Special"
Surprising enough its not very difficult to hold your breath up to 2 min or beyond with a little practice. The key is relaxation. After living on an island for a few years we would spear fish/freedive quite often. Deepest i have ever been was 82 feet, touch and go. More common for was 30-50 feet. 100 feet is considered the recreational limit.

My ears...for one thing. but practice yes. It helps. Still 40 feet was the deepest I've been. There are plenty of fish to spear down there :)
If you are Special like me you can probably get an abalone and a fish on one breath. 8)
How goes it Dan?
Von's is where you get fish and abalone.
You are confusing driving with diving.
good!
Ive been wanting to go up north for ab's, but water is so cold here.
Ab season is over at the end of the month and the ocean starts getting rough. Peeps that go out when its rough sometimes don't come back. But theres always next spring..
As for cold you will definitely need a good wetsuit.

i'm not so sure... the camera "man" is julie gautier, herself a record-holding freediver, while supposedly also holding her breath.

it's no big deal to disconnect from a tank & regulator underwater. it's also possible to add a buoyancy device to the tank to make it neutral in the water.
since there is no camera on the camera
person there is no way to know. . but when it's a 5 minute video (which means they were there 20-30-40 minutes?) and the subject is going hundreds of feet underwater, i can surmise someone had a tank nearby...
The wedding scene it that video was bizarre.

my first guess was rebreather (no bubbles)... then i saw who the camera person was.
given the length of the video and different camera angles, i'm pretty sure this was shot over multiple dives.
I started free dive spearfishing last year. Free diving is a great sport. I took a class this summer and was able to hold my breath for over 3 min. Before the class the deepest I ever dove was 30' but I had to come up right away. After the class I had 30' dives that lasted 1:45. I could go down to 50' with time to look around and did 20M a few times( max allowed in the class) its amazing what the proper breathing techniques can do. The rest is just practice. People are going over 100M with no fins. The record dynamic apnea ( swimming underwater in a pool) is 225M with no fins.
Its nice not to have to pay for and lug scuba gear around and I think spear fishing on scuba in water less than 60' is cheating.
