Someone who has it, could you snap me an up close pic? I can't seem to find one on the web, and I'm trying to decide if it's worth ordering one for $40 new or not. Also, how well does it do it's job? might be nice to have the function of a rear mudguard without the hideous looks of a normal mudguard.

Mines a 90's Supersport /888 hugger w a simple angle bracket on the swing arm.
You can prob find one cheap. The stock hugger is fugly.

You can see the custom metal brackets on SS/888 fender-my swing arm holes didn't line up w/ the fender holes so little angles did it. On my bike it lines up nicely w/ the exh cans.

Thanks Silas but I'm talking about the "lower mudguard". It's a separate part # from the primary mudguard and only on models with alloy swingarm. Know what I'm talking about? I'm away from my computer so I can't post the diagram.
No, I'm not sure what you are referring to. Thought you meant the oem plastic hugger that has a chain guard integrated in it . My OEM swingarm is aluminum (so is the kickstand). My used bike didn't come w/ the oem hugger, I got the CF hugger cheap.

I s'pose I've already dug up enough info to determine if it's worth a $40 plunge, mainly just curious about the actual functionality of the thing, and a better idea of what it looks like up close. From the limited angles I can see on the web, it looks both unobtrusive in some respects, and very silly in others, almost like a mudflap lol. Would just need to have Yosemite Sam with guns blazing painted on it. :P
Never knew that thingy existed, it must just be for dirt & rain splash -or to help keep tar from melting on the headers, as it surely will not protect the shock. Not sure it will protect the header either. Most people prob. removed it 1st day home w/ the new 1st gen Monstro. Doesn't belong on your fancy steed either, imo.
