This should be a long story but ....... my dry clutch on my 2001 Monster 900 blew up. The entire assembly needs to be replaced, not just plates, basket etc. Improper installation of clutch plates. Now I am looking for a non slipper clutch, the entire assembly. I have seen some used ones on ebay but does anyone know of a manufacturer who makes/sells the entire assembly together? I know Barnett makes the basket, plates, springs and caps but I don't think they make clutch drum, cush drive, etc. I was shying away from used but now after looking around, I might have to. I am also thinking of trying to piece together a used/new assembly but I am no sure which parts in the clutch, if any, wear well. I know commonly the basket, plates and springs get worn but what about the pressure plate or clutch bearing (etc)? Do they usually last? As always any input would be greatly appreciated.

Desmo Times Specializes in Clutch Upgrades, and offers modifications in 4 stages.
Stage 1 - "Get 'er on the Road Again" - Barnett or Surflex Clutch Pack (Shed 1/2 pound of fat) - $195 or $255
Stage 2 - "The Bling Thing" - Billet Pressure Plate, Spyder Retainer and Barnett or Surflex Clutch Pack
Stage 3 - "The Best of the Best"- ProCutting Hard Anodized Billet Aluminum Clutch Basket with either a Barnett or Surflex Clutch Pack Combo (shed 2 pounds of fat), + Billet Pressure Plate and Spyder Retainer and Stainless Steel Springs
Stage 4 - "The Full Monty" - ProCutting Hard Anodized Billet Aluminum Clutch Basket with either a Barnett or Surflex clutch Pack Combo (shed 2 pounds of fat), + Billet Pressure Plate and Spyder Retainer and Stainless Steel Springs + Billet Clutch Hub (shed 1/2 pound of fat)
Total Weight Saving with Stage 4 = 2.5 pounds reduction in rotating mass.
Look up HDESA USA on eBay. Best prices by far on a billet hub and lightweight basket. For Desmo Times's "Full Monty" price you could buy a complete Ducabike slipper and have change...he is not the best place for Duc parts aside from the eclectic stuff he has. I personally don't like supporting his demographic of people either.

¿Por Que?
I saw Hsea on eBay. How is there quality? Can I build a whole clutch through them or would it be a Hsea/Barnett mixture?

Pretty certain he carries it all, hub/pressure plate/friction plates, springs etc etc. He carries a mix of his own line of products and is a dealer for others. No first hand experience with the quality but I've been tempted by his solid hubs and adjustable timing pulleys for a long time, and when I was shopping for a Domino throttle he was very helpful and quick to answer questions. I wouldn't hesitate to give his stuff a shot....especially those tasty looking billet hubs..
My personal recommendation:
Nichols basket is my favorite but more $$$ Other billet clutch baskets all do the job.
SSR or NGR hub and Barnett or MW or Corse Dynamics spring kit
A stock or light weight pressure plate and stock alloy or Barnett clutch pack
California Cycle Works, Motowheels and Monsterparts all carry a range of clutch parts to suit your taste and budget. The forum classifieds are also handy.
However any combo from those vendors is available to suit your budget. They all carry a range of clutch parts for you to mix and match.
All are sponsors.
Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but you don't want to mix company with steel and aluminum clutch plates and basket material.
Example. Steel clutch plates with aluminum basket or aluminum clutch plates with steel basket
You are absolutely correct. Alloy with alloy. [thumbsup]
Thanks for your help. I guess there is no manufacturer who sells the complete dry clutch. And I already spoke with Jeff at Monsterparts. Great guy.
We have good sponsors who sell good stuff. They'll take care of you.
Let us know what package you end up fitting and if you need any advice on fitment.
i've been fitting aluminium packs in steel baskets for the past few years. seems to work well.
That's what I used to run. I found the alloy plate tangs get hammered in a steel basket, kind of like the opposite of steel plates chopping out an alloy basket. Close tolerances count for alot though whatever you're using.
