Didn't want to bury this one in the movie thread. If you know this story you're gonna like this one.

SPOILER ALERT

The township and Villanova Univ. came away a bit scathed in the press after the murder - mostly for reports of taking du Pont's generously donated $$$$ for years while looking the other way re his 'behavior' and 'demands'.  Many believed the whole tragedy was very preventable - sad ending for most of the people involved.

Now, much of the former estate is being "redeveloped" (and renamed 'Liseter') with McMansions and hi-end townhouses - developers drooled over that land for a long time after he went to prison.

Saw the trailer for it last week.
Du Pont sure seemed odd, to say the very least.
I guess people will overlook many things/ignore many alarm bells when there's victory/power/success/$ to be had.

Way of the world.

Great performances by everyone in the film.

What a sad, crazy man "Eagle eye" was.

I saw this last night and left disappointed.  I've seen real footage of du Pont and he was indeed awkward, but Carell's portrayal was flat.  If accurate, then perhaps du Pont's character at that stage was incommensurate with portrayal by an actor?  I knew the story and the movie did nothing for me but replay (part) of the story -- no value-added element.  In this respect it was sort of a documentary.

I feel like there was something in particular about this story that grabbed your attention.  I can't quite put my finger on what that would be though...
