Title: Dear internet,
Post by: Skybarney on December 19, 2014, 05:02:27 PM
Dear Internet,

I miss what we once had.  You were easy to understand and when I asked you a question you gave me but a single answer or two.  For the most part I trusted what you had to say and made many life changes due to your advice.  Those little sneak peaks at your sultry side were raw and exciting.  I understood the little codes that made you tick and truly enjoyed your friends Dot and Matrix.

But lately baby?  I can't get a straight answer no matter how many times I ask.  No longer can I trust what you say as there are just as many others than can prove it is not true.  Oh and those little sneaky peeks?  Well baby that crap is everywhere now and it just ain't that special any more.  I no longer understand anything about you much less your loser friends Twitter and Instagram.

I wish I could turn you off as much as you turn me off lately.  Sadly no matter how much I realize all of the awful things that our relationship has become I am stuck living with you and what you have become.

Sorry, just pissed off that I once again have to build an entirely new website.  [bang]

You're just getting old.

My grandpa, may he rest in peace, always hated cable TV -- "what the make the beast with two backs do you need 40 channels for?  We had TWO when I was growing up -- one had the news and the other had a bunch of shit.  What the hell am I going to do with 40 channels??"

Yup.  Old.

The part of the internet that drives me into a frothing rage is click-bait. Not the spam floating on Facebook or other social media sites...

I mean the headlines on supposedly legitimate news sites like CNN or our local TV stations that say shit like "You will never guess who showed up at Tom's Hardware today!" Then when you open the link it is some obscure local celebrity or the station's weather person.

I have stopped browsing sites that use that method of spurring interest in their articles.
