hey all, i have a 03 M800 and whenever i'm in second or third (usually when I shift into it), and gave gas, sporadically, I feel a "click" and a slight pause when it click. It doesn't happen everytime but usually happens when shifting into second gear. The "click" is hard to describe, it doesn't really affect the performance of my riding but I do feel it distinctly (almost like there's a skipping in the transmission). Is this unusual? Would appreciate any and all input. TIA
How long ago were your valves done, and how many miles on your bike.
What engine mods do you have?
That sounds like the typical backfire problem. Speeddog--did you adjust your throttle position sensor as per the thread on this topic a couple months ago?
+1 to speeddog's comments. I had this problem, valve adjustment issue, your closers are loose.
Euro 3 emission standard is the devil

I haven't messed with my S4, no.
Shucks. I was wondering if that would work.

Kind of like a balloon popping at the intakes? You might want to check to see if the rubber gas line in the tank is cracked and bleeding off fuel pressure, if the other suggestions get you nowhere.

I recently bought the bike in April of this year with 6300 on it. The previous owner got the 6k serivce done at Seattle Ducati. My bike now has 7300 on it and as far as I know no engine mods.
My 03 800 does the same thing, only its usually when I'm holding the engine at a constant RPM. I've been told everything from a bad throttle position sensor spitting back wierd values to lean fueling. I'm ordering a PCIII to see if that fixes the issue (and because I've been wanting one for a while).
Is this different than the surging issue that has plagued so many S2Rs?
