Title: put on a new fender
Post by: djomlas on January 29, 2015, 09:02:45 AM
i had a CF standard shape monster one on there before, and i felt that possibly it looked weird (not being the same color as the bike, but did go with rest of the CF) so i got one of these.
it actually worked out perfect because i have new brakes and brake lines (large goldline from 800Supersport along with rotors), where theres a loop from caliper to caliper, so the lines got a groove where they tuck into as opposed to monster brake lines where theres 2 going up top, so all worked out well.
i also lowered it more to the wheel (basically you take the little clamps, flip them upside down, and mount left ones on right side and right ones on left, and thats all). i thought the stock and this fender were way to far away from the tire.

i am still yet to peel off that orange side marker, but its too cold now :)

just wanted to share a pic, let me know what you think.  I'm not sure i wanna run the white stripe down it, maybe just a ducati logo on the front.

I like it.  [thumbsup]

I say leave it as is: no white strip and no ducati logo.

I always liked SS fenders on monsters. I'm glad I got mine.

yeah it really does look good, the only thing is i wish it was a bit longer in the back, or at least the shape maybe...
but overall really changed the look, especially since its the same color now...

sorry.. dont like it!   [evil]

The rear edge needs to be rounded rather than squared off, I reckon the squared line dosen't blend with the curves of the monster.
I'd say it'd be an easy fix though. Just cut that corner off to a nice radius and smooth the edge (then it would be custom modified  ;D ).

on the upside, it protects the crome on the fork leg from road rash. Some monster guards dont do that...

The street fighter fender has a smoother look

I vote for a white off center stripe

Here's mine w/ 900ss/888 fender, cut down & painted.  I tried to reduce the visual mass of it

yeah the back of it kinda bugs me too, but whatever.
i don't really wanna get into cutting and hacking anything off....was a pain to find one in the right color so that i didn't have to do any paint work, it only had 2K miles on it so its in pristine condition.

Round off the back end of the SS one. What makes it different from the 1098 one ?

At least to me they look the same. That carbon is rather tasty though.  [bacon]

yeah looks like 1098 looks just like the one on my bike, but with end more round. not enough for me to go buy another one.
i was just kinda looking to switch it up from carbon fiber one
