Title: Books for Kiddos
Post by: Stella on January 31, 2015, 08:57:25 AM
One of my sisters has been a 3rd grade teacher for what seems like forever now.

Until recently, she spent a lot of her own money on extra supplies including books.  She discovered Donors Choose (501c3) and shared an initial request for donations a few weeks ago with her goal met very quickly.   She is now pursuing more books.

If you are so inclined, take a look and consider opening doors by way of donation for her current and future 3rd graders in Michigan.   Thanks!

(For what it's worth, she's won awards for her mad teaching skillz, always has parents requesting her as their child's teacher, LOVES what she does and I'm very proud of her.)

Don't we all.    ;)

Too many good causes out there (and in our faces constantly through social media).  Never enough $.

Whenever I go to pet smart, they ask if I want to donate money for homeless pets. With six dogs, six cats, one tarantula and one leopard gecko, I give them my address so they know where to send the check.

I'm currently trying to build up a small library of kids books of my own. Lots of good stuff out there. Yard sales are a prime source.

One of you awesome knuckleheads made a semi-anonymous 3 digit donation (1st name only).

If you want to PM me your mailing address, the kids would love to send you a thank you (3rd grader notes are awesome!).

Otherwise, please know it was so very much appreciated.  My conservatively brilliant sister teacher is in awe of this group.

Thanks again to all who donated.  There were a number of anonymous donors.  Wouldn't be surprised if some were from here.

That gives one a mulligan for all sorts of otherwise bad behavior in my eyes.  [thumbsup]

Kids books...don't know what's contemporary bc I don't have kids, but if I ever do it'll be the stuff I grew up on for sure. Dr. Seuss and Shel Silverstein being mandatory.

Hey Stella, what state does she teach in.  Might not be feasible for us to home school,  so looking for good teachers
Edit: never mind, saw it in the link...
