Might need to upgrade my ST.

NICE - AWD, 300+ hp, 6-speed, 5-Door Focus!

Supposedly destined for North America too!

Yeah, that would get my attention.

A real WRX competitor.

The AWD system sounds similar to that of my Juke (at least the dual clutches on either side of the rear diff for side-to-side torque vectoring).

Cool.

I was shocked at how much I enjoy my ST. This is the first Merican car I bought with my own money. All the others, which I inherited from my parents, were total crap. I'm at the point where I'm no longer interested in buying a more expensive European or Japanese car. I am now officially a Ford guy.

I was also looking at the Taurus SHO, but I think I'll stick to the hot hatch if I can get my hands on one of these!

Drool.  [drool]

Wish I could have one of these in addition to the new 5.0 I have on order. Ford is on a roll.....

Curious to see how it will priced against the Golf R and Subi STI.

Maybe it'll motivate Subaru to update their drivetrain-same since '06 IIRC.

Hopefully.

The STI platform is indeed very dated.  And they made a huge mistake by not offering in a 5-door variant anymore.

Well the CHASSIS was just updated last year and most feel the powertrain will be next.

Heck the new chassis regular WRX is so improved it's putting down 0-60 and 1/4 numbers like the previous STI.

Most also feel the 5-door will return.

It will probably be priced competitively, at least in the US. If you compare the ST to the GTI in terms of price you'll see about a $5k difference. When I was checking the WRX, it was not exactly cheap. I think the problem Ford will face will be around their marketing. They will want to sell it as their performance models, i.e. exclusive.

Don't see this as a problem.  Unless it means it will have to be ordered/purchased sight unseen.

I think the Fiesta ST did better than was anticipated.

My friend has a fiesta st w/ the 6spd.

He did some stuff with Cobb in buffalo (I think) and it makes just over 200hp iirc and he can still get 30mpg even thrashing it.

The focus rs has my attention and I don't even like cars worth more than two doors.

That's because it is actually one of Ford's first "World Cars", and was built in Germany.

Fact.  Everything that I've seen/read on the RS sounds as if it will come to market about a thousand or two below the Golf R.  The big hurdle that Ford has to overcome is their dealer network.

I'm REALLY looking forward to seeing this car come to our shores!

Did I read correctly that stated it wouldn't be here until November?  Wife needs to trade, I'm keeping my F250 and she seems to like it.  This car sounds like a blast.

Think it will be one of those deals where they sell way over msrp sight unseen the way the fr-s did?

We shall see.  I'm really looking forward to checking this out in person though.  There's a pretty good chance I'll be going for one of these instead of the Golf R if it's half as impressive as it appears to be.

[thumbsup]

I always said that the ST in AWD would have been the perfect small car. It does have the German styling at an American car budget. I always had issues with the Subs styling and the Golf R, even with the AWD, seemed to be a half assed attempt at recreating the R32. BTW, I got this for the many videos I looked at before buying my ST.
