Title: Italian Night
Post by: Monstergirl on July 14, 2008, 09:03:29 AM
I have finally hit my threshold with the 331 club.  They have decided to have bands in the club starting at 6:30 on Monday nights now so I guess that means we have been given the heave ho.  When I walked in from outside last month I was surprised to see the club packed with people and the music was so loud that you couldn’t even hear people talk.  When I envisioned the night I didn’t have country folk music in mind as the soundtrack for an Italian bike night.  Since I modeled it after the Ace cafe I had some British and Punk on the brain,  or at least rock.  This has brought me to a conclusion.  I will be moving Italian night somewhere else.  This will be the second time we have moved our location.  The first was when Betty’s Bikes and Buns went out of business.  Now will be the third chapter in this little nights life.  So here we go again.  I am looking for suggestions but before you put pen or word process to paper let me spell out the things we need to move it.  These are things I would like and of course this is the dream list.  I can live without 1 or 2 on the list but not more than that.  So here goes:
      1.A big Parking lot
2.Good Food - 331 food was horrible.  Anything can be better than this.
3.Good Drink, preferably beer and wine and also coffee.  This way we can drink beer in the winter when we don’t have out bikes and coffee in the summer or maybe     something else.  : )
4.An owner who likes bikes and who won’t kick us out if we loiter in the parking lot.
      5.Not crowded.
      6.No LIVE Band.
     7. A central location, easy to find.

Let the ideas begin.

Mo's garage has a growing collection of bikes to look at (not running). And he could open some cans of Chef Boyardee which is more Italian than Olive Garden. So maybe Mo's?
Oh wait, he might get lost going to his own garage [laugh]

Sorry, that was a threadjack just to make fun of Mo....carry on.

Just ideas...

Bunkers on Washington has a nice size parking lot, and bands don't start until 9:30pm.
      YES- 1.A big Parking lot
YES- 2.Good Food - 331 food was horrible.  Anything can be better than this.
YES- 3.Good Drink, preferably beer and wine and also coffee.  This way we can drink beer in the winter when we don’t have out bikes and coffee in the summer or maybe something else.  : )
???- 4.An owner who likes bikes and who won’t kick us out if we loiter in the parking lot.
      YES-5.Not crowded.
      NO- 6.No LIVE Band.
YES- 7. A central location, easy to find.

OR

Maybe and Italian place like...

Buca  [wine]  [drink]  [coffee]- 1204 Harmon Pl, Minneapolis, MN 55403 · 612-288-0138

http://www.bucadibeppo.com/locations/location.aspx?location=2301

They have a lot but I can't remember it. I think it maybe across the street from the photo in the url above. Plus it is by Temple.

I think that meets all the criteria, but the owner thing, Mondays can't be that busy.

How about Psyco Suzi's?

They have a very large menu, ton's of outdoor seating (inside is a little cramped, but I have only been there on weekends), centrally located, and they call themselves a "Motor Lounge" (so you would figure that they would be open to motor-heads).

Just a thought, but it seems to work as good as anything else.

Thoughts?

Same place for now. Moving is not fun and just makes things confusing for everyone so we don't want to rush into a decision on another place. Being patient and looking at all the options is best in the long run.

So, for now...same place!  [beer]

I always liked Grumpys on Washington.  Not sure if the mood has changed over there, but they hosted the Saturday night event for the yearly scooter rally many years running.  It was a nice parking lot.

I know the owner of Nomad Pub over on Cedar, (seven corners area).  I can see if they would be open to it, if you think that place might work.  http://nomadpub.com/

Hey, glad you made it over to the new board!

I'm going to give my two cents...I like the Grumpy's idea. I didn't know that they hosted a scooter event, that's cool. They do have a nice big lot and it should be dead on Mondays.

What's the parking like at Nomad?

There are some good suggestions on here. Give Kim a little time to decide. She's been burned twice on venues so I know that it's important to her to come up with the best place possible.

Dear Gabe,
I can't believe that you called me stupid.  :-[ Did you not love me as a child like so many others  ???  Do you not realize the lesson of winning and losing that I teach the youth of this country every weekend and week night, these are important life lessons that they will carry on into the future.  It saddens me to see you hate me, I have never done anything to you or said publicaly that you are "stupid".  Can we be friends, have a hot dog and a cold beer on me.  In return you can buy me some penuts (not on wed night games in some sections) and cracker jacks.

Trying to be your friend, Love,

Major League Baseball

P.S.-yes we play on Mondays.

Italian Night is tonight and it will still be at the 331 club.  6-9ish  Lets just sit outside tonight.  That way the band won't matter unless you are trying to get food.   If you eat before hand you won't need to wait for a long line of customers to get there food on the one person at a time kitchen timeline.  I will be there around 6:30.  I am still open to suggestions for the future as well.  See you there.

well I showed up tonight... no one there!  I just found the local clubs here at this forum...

I have a suggestion for a place.  A place that has high visibility to the parking lot.  At 331 it feels we're hidden from the road.  I want a place that turns motorists heads as they pass by.  And occasionally has the cyclist turning in just to see what's going down.
